Brookings Inn

This is by far the worst hotel I've ever seen. We booked it because of the pool. It was only on the confirmation that I saw a note about the pool being closed for maintenance. I was booking in June for a September stay, so I called and asked if the pool was going to be up and running by September. They said it would be running by the end of July. Called again in September, and it was closed permanently. We stayed anyway, since we didn't have a better option. It was the dirtiest, most run down hotel I've ever seen. There's also no elevator. They have a cart to bring your luggage in, but there's no point since you just have to haul it all up the stairs anyway. One of the stair wells has a disturbing odor. The blankets were paper thin and disintegrating, leaving little bits all over. We asked for new blankets, but they were just as bad. No microwave in the rooms. Breakfast was very limited. No hot food aside from a waffle maker with watered down batter. Stale cereal that was stuck in the dispenser. Little plastic bags with donut holes or bread. A few petri dishes of yogurt. The kids ate some cereal, but that was it.

The pool and hot tub were not available and there was nothing noted of this on their website or social media page. I made these reservations over a month in advance with a pool and hot tub as a must. We drove 4 hours for this weekend. When the front desk said the pool was out of service, I politely asked if it was in need of repairs and the front desk person ignored me. She was clearly annoyed. I was not in upset with her as it was not her fault the pool was out, but her ignoring my question was inexcusable. She said the pool has been out since January 2026. This information should be easy to see when booking. I will never stay at this hotel again.

The waterpark is not functional. The facility is not in good condition. We were disappointed and won't return.

The place faintly smelled like pee on the first floor and through the area by the conference rooms. Someone spilled fruit loops on the stairs and it was funny to see it never get cleaned up the 3.5 days while I was there. Honestly for the price I can't complain that much, but I expected the bed to at least be a little better than it was. Also the fitness room is just a treadmill and a bike in a room, which I guess is better than nothing.

The air conditioning did not work, so it was hot.

Older hotel with a few renovations. Waterpark has been under construction for a long time, still not open. Breakfast was OK.

The place was quiet on our Sunday night stay (I'd guess we were the only people on the 2nd floor) and the beds and pillows were comfy.

Great lady at the front desk but shower wall grout had mold, everything was dated in the rooms, hard beds, the hallways are D A R K with minimal lighting, the breakfast has a great waffle maker but everything else is packaged up by staff from like bulk size stuff. So, a few donuts in a ziplock and a tub of yogurt was scooped into smaller containers... I don't know what precautions they took to prepare that stuff, so I didn't eat it. It all smells musty and old in the hotel.

Room 110 has dirt/mold on bathroom floor beside tub. Drain in bathroom sink has rotten smell. Air conditioner was very noisy all night.

Overall a good comfortable stay. The employees were friendly and let us do a late check out, which was appreciated. The room and beds were comfortable. However, it felt like the hotel needs some repairs - like lots of scuffs on our bathroom door, the shower switch didn't divert the water properly to the shower head, and it sounds like the pool has been closed for a long time. The breakfast was basic. This hotel worked for us but it could use some upgrades.

This place is screaming for a remodel update. Stayed due to cheap rate but wish I had booked our normal hotel. Pool was closed. Walls are paper thin so you hear everything. Do not recommend.

Toilet needed update, room stunk, not very clean, and no elevator.

The staff when we arrived was very helpful, and kind. The first hotel room was a bit closed in and dark, so we requested another room. She quickly showed me another and this was very much better. The hotel is a little older, very sturdy. There is La Cantina on site which was very convienant. Also, the breakfast was pretty good, had waffles and oatmeal for warm foods. All else was standard.
