Not sure what happened to the nice employees or the hotel standards. Room smelled like wet dog, furniture scratched up bad, mirror discolored, TV needs replaced as its color is not good. Location was the only thing that was nice. Its a calm relaxed quiet area where hotel is located. Night staff member (black male) was RUDE at check in because we upset his personal phone call he was on by trying to check in. White male with shaggy Grey hair next morning was RUDE & made it know that dealing with guests was not his choice. He was aggravated to get things that were needed for lobby bathroom & to refill supplies at breakfast. Same white male tried to tell us that what we booked was WRONG & not possible & was unwilling to look at the reservation confirmation we attempted to show him. This was not our first visit to this hotel. The white male individual has been there for more than 1 year. He looks unprofessional and smells bad everytime weve been there. There use to be a white female that was very professional, dressed professional & was willing to answer questions.

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The sugar and creamer was in the lobby. I didn't see any water to make the oatmeal.

This property provides a clean and more modern take of a motel room. The building is set off from a corn field but has recently been remodeled. There is a bed and TV and a wall with a mirror. We had two clean beds and bench under the window and a bathroom. Towels were clean and so was the room. Parking is availble just outside the hotel. Staff do their job. Good for a one night stay.

We stayed three nights and on the plus side, the bed was very comfortable. The shower was really nice--easy to use and a nice full stream of water. The property was not in a great area-- far away from restaurants, stores, etc. They kept the doors locked at all times. The hotel needed some updating, such as a new paint job in the room. The breakfast was advertised correctly--light continental. The price was lower than most, especially since it was a football weekend. So not the best place we have stayed, but we slept well.

All good as should be great customer service
-
The sheets could have been cleaner but I was too tired to care In the morning I heard all about the Packers game through the wall

Need to be updated. Drywall on ceiling is pretty bad.

I have to mention the elevator. The beep for every floor is so LOUD we had to cover our ears. Not to mention the sudden BANG when the elevator started. Went to the lobby and waited for anyone, after 20 minutes I gave up. Calling did not get anyone either. I am not sure why this Microtel is so awful, hoping it doesn't ruin the name!!! I would have to suggest to find a different place to stay than the Microtel in Champaign Illinois

Very clean and great location

Suggested maybe get a couple bags of ice & cooler to keep at front desk 🤔
-
Amazingly well kept older property. Small rooms. Great, helpful staff.

It was ok for a football stay, but the hotel needs some love. I found mold growing on the curtains in the room.
-
Clean Ice machine was broken.

Our room was very nice. Clean and spacious. We were pleasantly surprised at the condition of the room considering the price was relatively low (and it was a weekend.) We will look to book with this hotel again, should we find ourselves in the area.

Dirty. Smelled of smoke (entire hotel). The front desk showed me 5 rooms to choose from. I chose the least disgusting. It ended up being the exact room another had written in a review to specifically avoid.I have never smoked, but I worried I might smell of cigarettes when I left the hotel. Also, not sure if the area is considered dangerous, but one needs to hand over ID through bulletproof (I think) glass simply to enter lobby to be able to check in.

The o ly reason I didn't go 5 accross the board was do to the fact that I had to change rooms because of bad AC. They did switch me rooms however I then had to move everything and that always

Toilet needed repaired. Bed was lumpy and pillows were.. not good. The “light breakfast” was two loaves of bread, a dirty toaster and a bunch of browning bananas. And don’t even ask about the Circle K down the road. Never again Microtel. Gross!

Passable

Elevator was pretty sketchy, used the stairs a lot. Random people loitering either in a car or standing around. Area seems safe but also questionable. If you’re looking for a quick affordable option it’s great for a one or two day need. Definitely not a roach motel but definitely far from being great.

Being right off the highway was convenient The facility was decent and the hotel was fine overall, but the price was completely out of line with the quality of the rooms and property. We stayed during UIUC Family Weekend and paid over $200 per night for a hotel that typically charges around $69. While I understand rates increase during busy university weekends, the rooms and overall facility simply do not justify a $200+ nightly rate. On top of that, having to get Uber rides into campus and back only added to the poor overall value. At this price point, I would expect a significantly higher-quality hotel experience.
