My only complaint is that the concierge individuals were basically salespeople who tried to get me to agree to great deals for other hotels in their chain. If I had a question about a local restaurant, for instance, the topic would then turn to a sales pitch for other hotel sites. This happened 4-5 times, so clearly it is what they are trained to do. It felt corporate-centered as opposed to customer-centered. Otherwise, the hotel itself was a delight, and perfectly located in downtown Charleston.

Everything was great except the cleaning service in our room could’ve have been better. Overall great stay.

Restaurant was very good (Iron Rose) and staff very friendly. Beautiful place, my granddaughter loved the pool and Sabrina, the bar tender was so sweet!

The location was exceptional as was the style of the lobby and attention to detail. The staff were rude and we found the food disappointing each time we ordered.

Position Staff not particularly friendly or welcoming

Cleanliness was wonderful, but I thought it was a non smoking hotel. Sitting on the pool deck, we got smoke smelling every evening. Also, I have not received a copy of my bill via email as the grumpy lady told me at the front desk. All other staff members were very polite!

We were very pleased with our stay at Mills House Charleston. The property is set in a great location within walking distance to everything we wanted to do. We parked our car in the garage next door and didn't need to drive it until we left. The hotel is very well maintained (very comfortable bed/pillows) and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. It was nice to have the option to sit out near the pool and just read/relax and various times throughout our stay as it was quite warm. We had lunch out there twice and it was very enjoyable. We also had breakfast on-site twice and we were very pleased. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Right in the heart of everything. Felt very classy. Loved the coffee in house. The lobby smells amazing.

We used to stay at The Restoration hotel when we would come to Charleston, but we stayed at The Mills for a family reunion and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now when we come to Charleston this is the only place we stay! The staff is genuinely friendly, love the coffee shop in the lobby and the restaurant ?Iron Rose has great craft cocktails! The pool with frozen pina coladas is perfect and they had yoga by the pool! Water bottle they give is a nice touch. I just think they made me feel more welcomed and the lobby is much more lively. The nearby Michelin 5 star restaurants make dinner plans so easy! The bellman that brought us up took the time to sit and write down dinner options! And I almost forgot we were welcomed in with bubbly Champagne! So nice-we will be back!

Great clean and staff was amazing

property was nice, historic charm, great pool, clean rooms and good central location. no parking options we’re kind of annoying, we stayed in several cities during this trip and didn’t have as much as an issue as in Charleston. Having to pay either $65 per day for valet or $40 overnight for the garage as the only 2 options weren’t ideal to say the least. We were in a room right next to the elevator and on top of the walls being thin and it being pretty noisy, the gap under the door was very large to the point where you could see in from outside. We ended up stacking some towels underneath to try and muffle the noise and hide the light at night. Valet guys were EXTREMELY rude during our stay to the point it made me so upset we avoided the front altogether. Rude and made sexist comments towards me to the point another person standing nearby came up to check on me. The front desk staff was amazing and so so sweet but the Valet service department needs a full overhaul or some serious talking to, no guests will come back if you talk to them that way. Definitely ruined the entire experience for us

Amazing location , pleasant lobby, fitness room, having a pool, cafe, bar and restaurant. Very slow breakfast service on 2 mornings in the Iron Rose.

A special thank you to Mihir, who made my stay especially enjoyable. As someone newer to the area, he went above and beyond by providing outstanding service and offering excellent local recommendations.I would gladly stay here again.

We had an amazing stay and will visit again!

The hotel was clean and lovely; however, the front desk staff was not pleasant or eager to help. I have never checked in before, where I found the front desk so unwelcoming. They did not tell me that there was a complimentary water bottle in the room for us; they offered no information about the hotel; we checked in and were handed a key and told the elevator was behind us. It felt very unwelcoming. Also, when checking out a different front desk person, she did not ask how our stay was or even thank me for our stay. She asked if I wanted a printed or emailed receipt, and that was it; she did not ask me to review the charges or anything, nor thank me for our two-night stay. Aside from the front desk's lack of welcoming attitude and gratitude for our stay, it was a pleasant and lovely hotel in a great location. I did find the room had a slight wet mold smell; it could be just an older hotel, but it could also have been the presence of mold. I never sneezed before the trip, and each morning I awoke, I sneezed and blew my nose a LOT! Lastly, on the first night, the next morning, housekeeping was vacuuming hallways at 8 am -- that seemed peculiar and very disruptive to sleep; why would they vacuum hallways so early when people are on vacation?

Very clean, well stocked, room was a good size, friendly staff, room was nicely decorated. The hotel was in a great location, easy walk to everywhere. Bed was not comfortable at all

It is a unique property in a city with so much history.
