Rainbow Motel

While I was staying there at first I was thinking to write an all bad review because of the stink, stained bedsheets, damaged doors, walls, disgusting bathroom and human hairs found everywhere. The old in room air-conditioning unit was very loud and old, so I've turned it off and kept it off the whole stay because of the noise, the fact that it was 2 feet from my head, blowing air directly in my face and because it looked like it hasn't been professionally disinfected or even cleaned in years. Worse I did not feel safe there. Then I reconsidered. The price of 90 USD per night in south Chicago in mid September was still cheaper than the majority of options available (with real established hotel chains often asking for 800+ USD per night). And despite a horrible first impression of being given a room the reeked of smoke (despite advertising as a smoke free establishment) the staff did what they could, and up on request I got another room that was at least aired out or ozone cleaned (based on the smell there). Also, though they charged 104 USD for the safety deposit and gave back only 100. At least they gave it back, which meant that I did not need to go to the police to get my money back, saving some time. SUM: you get what you pay for. Lowest price, with low quality. I can only recommend it to strong men who do not care about hygiene and are traveling on a tight budget. It is better than sleeping on the street.

No microwave in the room but the mini fridge worked wonderfully. Lots of options on the TV as well. Staff was very nice and welcoming. Overall a very nice experience. Very good option for anyone looking for a more affordable option. Would definitely recommend.

Very clean nice employees

The price and location was great, and there was a nice bakery across the street. But, the rooms were not very clean, and there was evidence of bed bugs with stains on the sheets. The cleaning product smell covered bad smells. My allergies flared up while I was there and went away after checking out, so if you have a sensitivity to some dusts or other allergens, take note.

Nothing The floor, sheets, bed, sink, bathroom

Dirty room, terrible smell, shower leaked, hair everywhere, was not cleaned before check in. At a point, card did not work to get into room so got locked out. Waited 30 minutes outside in 90 degree heat just to get back inside my room.

Overall location isn’t bad! Plenty of food, shops & pockets of community nearby. Seems like they’re doing renovations so fingers crossed for upgrades coming their way!

Not clean, given the wrong key twice. The first time someone was in the room and the second time the room wasn't cleaned. Things definitely need to be updated and cleaned thoroughly. Also the photos are false advertisement

I arrived and no one was at the office/ front desk , I was put in a dirty room to wait. The staff was unfriendly and rude.
