Dear Guest Relations, I am writing to formally express my disappointment with my recent stay at the Extended Stay America in Chino Valley. My family and I experienced multiple issues during our stay that caused significant inconvenience, unnecessary stress, and additional expenses that I believe were unfair. At the time of our stay, my family and I were living in hotels because we had to relocate due to domestic violence. Finding a safe and affordable place where my children and I felt comfortable has been extremely difficult. After researching different hotels and reading reviews about your Chino Valley property, I believed this location would be a safe and suitable option for my family during this difficult transition. Unfortunately, the issues we experienced added additional stress and hardship during an already challenging time. Prior to our arrival, I made an online reservation for 2 adults and 2 children for the dates of July 2 through July 8, 2026. I entered the correct number of guests during the reservation process, and the reservation was accepted. I received a confirmation number and believed the room reserved would accommodate my family. When we arrived at the hotel, I was informed by the front desk that the room I reserved could only accommodate three guests. I was told that I would need to cancel that reservation and book a larger room at a higher cost. Since we had already arrived and needed a place to stay, I had no choice but to make the change. My original reservation total was $515.86, and the replacement reservation cost $608.88, resulting in an additional charge of $93.02. I do not believe it was fair for me to have to pay this additional amount because your online reservation system accepted my booking after I entered the correct number of guests. I should not have been financially responsible for what appears to have been an issue with the reservation system or room availability information. After checking into the larger room and unpacking our belongings, we discovered that the refrigerator was not working. I immediately went to the front desk and informed the employee because we had food that needed refrigeration. I was told someone would be there the following morning to repair it. Later that evening, after a long day, my family and I attempted to shower and discovered that the shower was not working. I returned to the front desk, and a younger gentleman assisted us by moving us to another room. Although I appreciated his assistance, it was frustrating to have to gather our belongings and move after already unpacking because of multiple problems with the original room. On the morning of July 8, I called the front desk at approximately 10:00 a.m., one hour before checkout, to ask about a late checkout. I was informed that after 12:00 p.m. there would be a $10 per hour charge. At approximately 11:45 a.m., I called again and explained that I was still at an appointment and hoped to be out before 1:00 p.m. I was told that was okay and to let the front desk know if I would be later. At approximately 12:45 p.m., I called again and explained that I should be leaving shortly but wanted to extend my stay for one additional night. Before arriving, I had also spoken with a front desk employee who explained that my original reservation could not be extended after 11:00 a.m. and that it would need to be done as a new reservation. I understood and followed those instructions by making a new reservation.

Nothing The lack of safely and homeless people around the entire property

I was there for 7/5 thru 7/9. At check in, staff on duty did not know check in procedures for pre-paid/ Expedia reservations and I was asked to pay $307 insurance fee. The staff member had to call manager to resolve situation. I was informed that Maid service is only available every 7 days. There was no water available 7/7 between 9am to 3pm. There was pest control on 7/8. I was instructed by written notice to prep the room for the procedure; however I was told that this was not necessary after the fact.

Economical price and welcoming service. All expectations met: clean room, breakfast, etc. Staff was very warm & friendly. Helped me fix my suitcase - screws needed tightening.

I am grateful for the rates and availability that were offered. Because I had read previous reviews and was given a heads up from the staff at check-in, I knew not to expect a full, traditional, sit-down breakfast bar - it is more of a grab-and-go snack station. I appreciate that heads up from them. The woman at check-in was kind enough to call me at my room to see what I needed, because when I was stading in front of her earlier, she was busy on the phone. I think she went the extra mile, given that she could have just as well gone about her shift without reaching out. Beds seemed clean and comfortable, and the room location was good for a view of our parking spot and two entrance options easily available. Things I wish would be improved: the room had a very strong bleach/cleaner smell which was uncomforble to be in, the refrigerator door was covered in an orangish/brownish film (either from age or minimal cleaning time over time), the counter in the kitchen showed signs of age with peeling and black areas which was offputting, the microwave had extensive wear and tear (holes) inside which made us a little nervous to use, the bathroom shower and counter had spots that showed not cleaned (spots/drips visible), the shower drain had a large rust stain and it dripped constantly even prior to us using it. I can understand hotel may have been shortstaffed, so when I asked for some kitchen supplies I was asked to go downstairs to grab and juggle plates, cups, and silverware back to our room (at other locations I was provided these items in a tub). In the mornings, the coffee ran out quickly (as well as other items) and had to wait several minutes before someone came to the counter only to find out a back up coffee was not made and would have to wait extra time for a fresh brew.

Black spot in shower area.

Not really a breakfast, just muffins, granola and coffee. Room had a minor issue but staff changed us to a new room and let us have a late checkout.

Showed up to the hotel and there was nobody to check us in. We waited in the lobby by the front desk for half an hour until a worker strolled in holding a bag of Taco Bell lol. We'd been spamming the front desk phone with calls to try to get someone's attention, walked the entire first floor looking for someone, and there was NOBODY. The lobby had like 5 other people sitting on the floor and laying on the bell hop carts because we were all waiting for so long to get checked in Finally got to our room and there was a bunch of hair on the pillows (the pillow cases hadn't been changed), and after lifting up the top sheet to check for bed bugs, there was a bunch of short hairs all over the mattress protector. Not to mention the entire building in general smelled musty/dirty. We left and got another hotel without even getting a refund because it was such a bad experience and I couldn't bring myself to sleep there.

The room definitely needs to be upgraded. It needed a complete makeover. There were no dishes in the room and the refrigerator had stains. The counters were chipped.

expecting more in the room to much noise and calling customer server was rude.
