SpringHill Suites by Marriott Albany-Colonie

While a previous stay at this same property was excellent, this stay wasn’t as good. The staff was helpful providing a blow dryer as there wasn’t one in the room. However we were given a handicap room which we did not reserve so we had no bathtub. The beds were both super low to the ground. The mattresses were horrible & uncomfortable. When showering the water was all over the bathroom floor not just contained to the shower. Just an unpleasant stay especially as I was expecting a similar experience from my first stay.

Our king suite was large & comfortable. The bathrooms were updated and modern. I enjoyed the large sofa quite a bit, and the workspace is a nice touch even for tourists. The breakfast was a nice combo of hot & cold foods. I had the cereal, but I'm sure the oatmeal, eggs etc were good. The hotel was close to the local Trader Joe's, which is a plus. Also the Kurver Kreme, which we did not get to. This is not a complaint, but more local folklore. The fourth floor room was very quiet. You can't hear airplanes from the nearby airport. But a few times, there were three sharp air blasts & we didn't know why. Local residents whom we were with said this is to call local volunteer fire departments. It's an old tradition that they don't want to let go of. Again, not a complaint but more "what is that?"

Our room phones did not work at all. No one was at the desk so that I could get more blankets.

The location is excellent and convenient for travel. The room A/C was broken during our mid-July stay. It was set to heat at 78 degrees when we arrived around 8:00 pm. When we switched it to cool the room began filling with a horrible moldy/mildew odor. We finally called the front desk and they had a mantainence person take a look. The manager was excellent and quickly switched us to a different room that was cool and smelled cleaned. The lobby breakfast area was also very hot in the morning. It was much cooler outside!

Spacious, clean accommodations and excellent location.

Honestly the staff here are the nicest I've ever met. Front desk, housekeeping, even the breakfast folks, better service than most 5 star hotels I've stayed at. Only issues were the bathroom door wouldn't close, no exhaust fan, and the sofa was broken. The front desk offered to move me to another room a few times but I just didn't bother, so that's on me not them.

Very poor

The front desk staff was unbelievably rude and condescending, the room was filthy, and the breakfast was borderline inedible. Avoid this place if you can.

After a long day on the road this place was perfect.
