Garner Hotel Cornelius Lake Norman by IHG is located near Interstate 77, nestled in the heart of NASCAR country. It is just minutes from many racing attractions, including the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame, JR Motorsports, Kasey Kahne Racing, Martin Truex Jr. shop, Memory Lane Museum and Raceworld USA. Lowe's Motor Speedway is 20 miles away. Guests can take a drive through the Lazy 5 Ranch exotic animal park, discover the outdoors on Lake Norman, offering sailing, boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming and much more. The area around the lake is nice for hiking, sunbathing and picnicking. Numerous shopping centers, entertainment venues, two large bowling centers (NorthCross Lanes at the Lake and George Pappas' Victory Lanes), golf courses and tennis courts can be found in the surrounding area. A variety of restaurants and cocktail lounges are also nearby, including several within walking distance of our hotel. This hotel offers many amenities, including a free hot breakfast, free coffee, free wireless high-speed Internet access, free local calls, a seasonal outdoor pool, and an exercise room. Additional amenities include a public computer with Internet access, free newspaper, desks in some rooms, access to copy and fax services and a large meeting room, perfect for parties, corporate functions and family reunions. Wake up call was a staff person running a leaf blower right outside the window at 5:50 am. So loud it sounded like it was in my room. I couldn’t get back to sleep. When I left an hour later, the staff was still blowing off the parking lot. There was really no reason to blow off the parking lot because it was pretty clean, no leaves. Just blowing dust over the cars . I asked the staff about it and they said that they were supposed to do it at 5:30 am every week per instructions from the manager. Crazy.!

I was disappointed with my stay. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and guests have to use the back entrance. This information should have been disclosed before booking. The cleanliness of the room was below expectations. I found hair on the floor and in the bathtub, which made me question how well the room had been cleaned. The complimentary breakfast was just okay. I've stayed at many hotels with much better breakfast selections and quality. One of the biggest disappointments was finding out that the pool is out of service. The website did not mention this before I booked, and it was one of the amenities I was looking forward to using. Overall, the hotel has potential, but between the lack of communication about renovations and the pool closure, along with the cleanliness issues, I don't feel the stay was worth the price.

Construction going one but the hotel was still very clean and comfortable. Not the fault of the hotel but multiple times during our 2 night stay someone was smoking or vaping or dabbing pot outside our room in the hallway. The smell was horrible and like they were standing next to us in our room. Not sure how they fix it but it needs to be addressed to keep up the standards of the rest of the hotel.

Pool is closed because it never passed inspection, never should’ve been advertised if it’s closed. Lots of construction going on with no notice of it being done.

They never stated on the descriptions they were renovating. Only 1 elevator and the staircase doors to go outside are kept unlocked. Pool was closed. We smelled marijuana, gas and pets on our floor. Staff were not helpful or friendly. I would not recommend staying here

Floor was visibly unkept. Very small TV. Normal hotel practice of providing a coffee maker and an ice bucket were not in the room. You could ask for an ice bucket at the desk and coffee was available in the lobby but inconvenient in the morning if you like to have a cup or two before getting dressed. Pool was not open for use. TV program in the lobby in the morning had a show on with inappropriate subject and language. Seemed the hotel was bought out and had ongoing construction of front entrance and also the name was different on the building than this name that we booked under that day. We were confused.
