Garner Hotel Cornelius Lake Norman by IHG is located near Interstate 77, nestled in the heart of NASCAR country. It is just minutes from many racing attractions, including the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame, JR Motorsports, Kasey Kahne Racing, Martin Truex Jr. shop, Memory Lane Museum and Raceworld USA. Lowe's Motor Speedway is 20 miles away. Guests can take a drive through the Lazy 5 Ranch exotic animal park, discover the outdoors on Lake Norman, offering sailing, boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming and much more. The area around the lake is nice for hiking, sunbathing and picnicking. Numerous shopping centers, entertainment venues, two large bowling centers (NorthCross Lanes at the Lake and George Pappas' Victory Lanes), golf courses and tennis courts can be found in the surrounding area. A variety of restaurants and cocktail lounges are also nearby, including several within walking distance of our hotel. Disappointing stay. The pool was out of service and the place was under renovations, which was not made known to us prior to arrival. There was a bad smell in the hallway upstairs, and noises were noticed several times through the night. The room AC didn’t function well either. The shower did not appear to have been cleaned.

Bathroom air vent did not work; AC sounded like gun shot/sound blasting at times and scary/irritating.

My room was spacious and well-equipped. The staff was amazing. The property is under renovation and will be great when it's finished, but during my stay, the pool was closed, the breakfast wasn't fully-stocked , and the entrance was through the back. A poor first impression, but I'm expecting good things, and the experience was a mostly-pleasant one, all things considered....so much so that, if the price were to remain the same, post renovation, I'd definitely consider staying there again.

Location Front desk gentleman was slow. Sink was cracked. No soap in shower. No cups or ice bucket in rooms. When calling from my cell, the phone at the front desk went to a message and voicemail did NOT function

Muddy paw prints. Bathroom floor and baseboards need special attention. The inside of the elevator needs cleaned as it looked like food and spills had been there for awhile, in addition to many many fingerprints! Pool not usable. Couple roaches in the hall near the public restrooms. No ice buckets in the room...back downstairs to get, then no glasses in the room..another trip down!!!

I didn't like that I'm not getting any IHG points because they haven't finalized the transition from Lake Norman Inn to Garner. You hear more noise from the housekeeping staff than noise from the street and outdoors. Wish they extended breakfast to 10 am during weekends.

The front entrance was under renovation so we had to go through the back. The elevator has no air and is very slow making the elevator experience difficult. The stairs are exterior and has cigarette butts everywhere. The room itself was nice, clean, and fine for the one night we were there.

I had to change my first room because the room smelled like dog. I was not able to use the pool which was one of the reasons that I chose this place. I could not get WiFi. I had to purchase spray and air freshener for the room. The picture that I saw on the site were not what I got when I get there. I would not recommend.

It was still under some construction when we stayed so I don’t think I can give a full proper rating of the place, but the room was nice, the air conditioning kept the room really cool, the only thing that was annoying was that the tub drain was not working properly, it was very slow to drain, it filled up during a shower and then would take all night to drain, probably just clogged. Otherwise, the staff was friendly, it’s in a very good location close to places to eat and shop within walking distance or short car ride.

Two, when my mother checked in- the front desk receptionist was kind assisted her when her legs out. However, as she was waiting snd helping others, there were multiple complaints of issues with Wifi, television and AC units not working in multiple rooms from multiple guests. Thankfully, the room we booked had running AC, was clean, spacious accesible. However, one of the TVs weren't working. Third, the breakfast didnt accommodate our needs as far as variety options. There wasnt any food besides eggs and breaded items that didnt have pork. I wish there was at least cereal or fruit available to offset everything.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Very helpful and attentive staff. Quiet environment. Free coffee 24/7. Lots of supermarkets and places to eat nearby.
