The Encinitan Hotel & Suites

The room was clean & spacious for my family of four. Breakfast was a nice added touch for a snack & a coffee. The pool was well maintained & a comfortable temp.

This is more of an expensive motel than a hotel. Noisy patio due to train horns several times an hour. Subpar breakfast options in a chaotic room (and awful coffee). The room was not very clean (brown spots on the floor near the toilet, spider webs, etc). They did not replace the paper coffee cups initially provided in the room, even once, during our 5-day stay. I had to go to the front desk and ask every day. I was first told "the staff must have forgotten", then "we must be out" (that was not the case), and then that I should have told them I needed cups before the cleaning staff left for the day. That is basic room service that I should not have to ask for every day, and I should not have to guess whether they would replace them. One day, we had no room service at all, and the next day, no hand towels. The woman at the front desk said they "do not always do room service every day." It is either every day or not, but it should not be random, and they should let customers know at check-in if it is not daily. When I complained, the front desk person told me "that's not how other hotels do it", i.e., they do not let customers know in advance (I have stayed in many hotels over the last 30 years and know this is incorrect!). The elevator was working, but with a temporary permit (not reassuring), and people were in the pool way past posted hours. Make sure you have a room far from it. Positive: location and parking.

The breakfast was terrible. The eggs were out of a box. The sausage was overcooked in a microwave. The hotel room had no water pressure. The sinks were plugged up,the swimming pool head gobs of hair floating in it other than that it was great.

The facility

I really enjoyed my stay here. It's in a great location very close to lots of great restaurants and night life. Investing in the kitchenette rooms was fantastic! Everything was very clean. The hotel is old, but they have done updates to the rooms that really make a huge difference! Like the bathrooms, kitchenette, decor, and flooring. All of this makes the rooms very comfortable. I was so happy they didn't have those stupid flimsy sliding doors that a lot of hotels are putting in now a days in the bathroom. You actually have a real door!

The grounds were clean but there were random objects in the parking garage, refrigerators, supplies, etc which looked tacky. There were cobwebs in our bathroom otherwise room was clean Continental breakfast was alright Area is nice if you’re looking for coastal and relaxing. walkable to restaurants, beach and tram. Receptionist was friendly and customer service was good Patio is nice but view is of streets with ocean in the distant Not terrible but I wouldn’t stay again

Great place to stay at in the area of Encinitas, Ca. Approx .5 mile to the beach and downtown.

It is an old property but Big and overall well maintained. I loved its location. I walked to the rail line caught a train and returned. It's close to downtown Encinitas and the beach.

Rooms were clean. Rest of the property not so much.

Room was spacious, clean with very comfortable beds. Kitchenette made meals easy. The Breakfast room gets is a little over-crowded, but the coffee was pretty good. The spa was not working while I was there. Fitness center was adequate for a good cardio/weight workout. Hotel location is great for visiting the beach. Happy that we chose this hotel for our stay.

Great hotel, great staff, great laid-back vibe. This hotel is clean & spacious.

The property is dated and could use some modernization.

Also the hotel has such an old place vibe. Would not recommend if you want to be in slightly upbeat hotel otherwise it is okay. Also it is a slight walk to the Jasper downtown so you have to pay for the parking every time you go out. But this may be the place for you if you are looking to just crash for the night.

This hotel looks and feels very neglected. Sadly! At one time it probably was very nice in the 80s. Staff seems rude from check in to house keeping. Absolutely no water pressure in the bathroom sink in fact seems a health violation. House keeping staff is lazy. Pool and Jacuzzi were kept up. Breakfast was decent. I walked the entire property with my pup and found boarded up parts of the property. Says pet friendly only one tree well for pet relief but not designated just did it. Way over priced hotel because the location keeps them in business. The room is spacious. Balcony was nice. The area is itself is very nice!

A little noisy

Great location- close to everything, large rooms, beds were comfortable, pool was nice, older building but well-kept and maintained. Good price point as well.

We been coming here for the past 5 summers for our family vacation. The hotel rooms are really big and have a big balcony. The rooms are normal standard. The staff was helpful with whatever we needed. We love the location! It’s walking distance to the beach and lots of good food places a short walk away. There’s a grocery store and laundry mat across the street. The grocery store has so much good, healthy food ready to eat. The laundry mat is awesome to not bring all the sandy dirty laundry home. Moonlight beach is amazing. It’s clean, lifeguards do any amazing job and lots of amenities. The hotels breakfast is good for quick start with options of bagel/ eggs/ sausage / yogurt and drinks. Pool was clean and fun. We come here with relaxed hotel expectations and just have fun with family. Will be back next year.
