I loved the attached Restaurant

This hotel is not handicapped accessible. No elevator. Stairs to four floors. This is an old, rundown hotel that has not been updated for at least 40 years. People were fighting and throwing up in the night. The staff are not welcoming. The restaurant attached is not good. It benefits only from its location near DC/Falls Church and Metro. Definitely not stay there in the future.

We were happy with everything during our stay. I only wish there were better accommodations for guests who use wheelchairs. Making the property more accessible would make it easier for everyone to enjoy their stay.

Breakfast was well maintained 5/5. Staff was friendly.

Hotel is dated, room had an odor, breakfast was nothing to boost about. Not a hotel I would recommend.

Outstanding Performance all around

The Clarion is an older 2-story motel style lodging. There is no elevator. The breakfast was basic but satisfactory and the room was clean. The reason for the 3 star rating is that the in-site restaurant was unbelievably awful. They were out of most dishes, so we went with the ‘recommended’ dish of Bolivian empanadas. They were flavorless and had obviously been reheated in a microwave. The ‘Caesar’ salad was lettuce with mozzarella cheese on top. Gross.

I originally chose this hotel over a lower-budget motel with spotty reviews, paying $250 more specifically for peace of mind—which I unfortunately did not get. Past midnight on my second night of a 5-night stay, I discovered multiple bugs (termites and an earwig) in my room. Luckily, the front desk staff was accommodating and fulfilled my request to change rooms immediately, and I had no further major issues for the rest of the trip. However, hotel staff refused to issue any refund or discount for the massive inconvenience. I am rating this 2 out of 5 stars instead of 1 star solely because the service during the room swap was helpful, but I cannot recommend a hotel that charges a premium only to have pest issues.

But i would have preferred to know in advance about the shuttle drop/ pick up from metro station

The room was clean and fresh smelling. The staff was helpful. Loved the free shuttle to the Metro station. Continental breakfast was delicious. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

Very clean

The room was ok but had a damp smell to it after you turn off the air conditioner it was clean and neat however Im not sure they changed the pillow case's on the pillows when you smelled the dampness it was mainly on them the Breakfast was decent I enjoyed it bacon one day sausage the next waffles were Great!Staff was very pleasant and helpful I would stay there again and the price was great and the parking was great and free

Room had a bad smell that would not go away even after opening windows repeatedly

The room was exceptionally clean. The staff was absolutely lovely. Every single person from check-in to the Resturant. The building is unfortunately old with wings added on to existing exterior brick structure inside so you have a lot of humidity in the halls and musty smells. There is no elevator to the second floor and no sundries. Not what I was expecting, but because the staff was excellent and friendly and none of old bldg issues can be attributed to them while it was not what I was looking for I did not leave because of the kindness of all who worked there.

Nothing The service was bad, rooms were dirty, the bed had clothing tags left on them under the pillows that were left by previous person. The door had a gap all the way around it and you could see daylight. The shower curtain was stained and dirty. The hair dryer had someone's hair wrapped around it.

Everything is good.
