The Stavrand Russian River Valley
About The Stavrand Russian River Valley
Ease into California wine country at The Stavrand Russian River Valley. This landmark countryside estate architected by John Carl Warnecke serves up tranquillity from the moment you step into its six acres of natural beauty. This theme carries throughout the interior of the hotel. Thoughtful palettes and natural textiles create an enchanting blend of old and new in an historic retreat that takes a thoroughly modern approach to comfort. Rooms are bright and artfully designed with easy access to the stunning surroundings. For magical evenings beneath the stars opt for a soak in the outdoor hot tub or enjoy toasted marshmallows around the firepit. While away your days in the swimming pool or trying your hand at lawn games. Curl up with a book from the lending library or borrow a bicycle. There are more choices to be made at the hotel restaurant with its curated menus that draw on Californian cuisine with a dash of global flavours courtesy of the private chef. Each meal invites you to indulge in local wine pairings sourced from nearby vineyards. Microbrews and local spirits also feature on the menu. Meanwhile those who love epicurean adventures will discover a world of options in this region of Sonoma County. From evening wine receptions at the Stavrand to cheese tastings at local creameries this part of the world puts California on a plate and in a glass. This is the Russian River Valley after all. Pinot noir and chardonnay remain the best-known grapes in the region - but there is plenty of choice when it comes to vinicultural delights. Walk off the indulgence with a stroll beneath the redwoods. The Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve lays just 3 miles north of the hotel and the Pacific Coast scenery from Bodega Bay up through Fort Ross begins just 14 miles west The Stavrand Russian River Valley is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.

Amazing hotel and staff

Excellent location, very close to Guerneville, Armstrong Redwood State Park, Healdsburg and Russian River Wine Country. Beautifully maintained house and grounds. Excellent service with deserved Michelin "Two Keys" recognition. Very cute intimate Inn, with fun and relaxing wine tasting on site each evening along with help yourself smores (and cozy outdoor fire pits). Highly recommend! Will stay again.

Such a beautiful property and the staff are amazing! From check-in to check-out, everything was wonderful. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary and were offered a complimentary upgrade as well as some chocolates and a card. The staff were so nice and thoughtful. We loved the peacefulness of the redwoods and the garden nearby. I wished we had had more time to spend than one night, but we’ll definitely come back next time we’re in the area!

Location is very good. Staff is very helpful. Room felt a bit cramped! No chair to sit. Small bathroom. Free breakfast was just basic. No juice, no toast. More options should be included for free breakfast.

The property is gorgeous, clean, well kept and the staff is fantastic. My only complaint is the noise. I was trying to take an afternoon nap but they were trying to fix a door and it was like they were drilling / messing with the door in my ear. You can hear every step and every word in this hotel. Also the hot water took a good 5 minutes or more, it was shocking how long it actually took. I thought that was a waste of water. Would live to stay here again.

Review of stay in the National Historic Register Belden House: the room felt updated and modern with some antique touches that gave the room character. The original double hung windows were tastefully covered with two layers of curtains to allow for a dark room for sleeping. The complimentary breakfast, afternoon wine hour, and s’mores were a lovely addition to this serene getaway. The breakfast was made to order and offered plenty of gluten free options. The grounds were well kept, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and even free level 2 EV charging.

Great remodel, beautiful setting. The dinner was quite expensive and a tad disappointing. Staff is warm and friendly. Bedding is perfect!

Absolutely incredible. Top notch experience all around. The staff was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. My wife and I stayed here as home base while we went to the redwoods and Sonoma. Absolutely incredible. The experience was pure luxury and the service I just can't speak highly enough about. Book this hotel!

We loved our stay here. The staff were all so welcoming and accommodating. We appreciated how family friendly it was as we were traveling with our toddler. We definitely plan to come back!

Clean, beautiful property. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Best turn down service I’ve ever experienced. Thank you!!

BIG fan of this property -- mostly because of the people. While a bit dated, that's part of the charm and the staff was some of the friendliest I've experienced. Super helpful, super accommodating, and super friendly. A short, mostly pretty walk to "downtown" made it easy to not have to drive a lot and outside of losing power (not in their control), it was a great, relaxing stay! Can't wait to come back and try their dining options (and sadly skipped breakfast, too much to do!).
