We didn't meet the owners, but Donna at reception took wonderful care of us from early check-in through checkout. Warm, efficient, and genuinely glad we were there. Breakfast sold us. It's served in a wood-paneled room and it's a proper German spread: cold cuts, cheeses, fresh breads, and eggs boiled to order, just like a good pension in Bavaria. We came in a Toyota Tundra crew cab with a 6.5-foot bed and the private lot made parking effortless, with room to spare. Location is almost unfair.  Icicle Brewery is about 50 feet across the alley. Blewitt Brewery is about 260 feet across Commercial Street, and downtown shops and restaurants are a flat five-minute walk. The hotel sits one block off the main drag, so you get the convenience without the late-night noise. Quiet at night, central by day, and the most authentic German feel we've found in town. We'll be back.
