The deluxe continental breakfast was lacking! It was a "Grab and Go" breakfast when we got there. Not what we expected.

I was excited to stay here as it was an upgrade from the other 2 hotels/motels we stayed at. Upon entering I was reminded of a nursing home facility, as the lobby had a distinctive unpleasant smell to it. The front desk clerk was very nice and friendly. The room was a little smaller than so had an anticipated, but still comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay. A clean well maintained facility with some old school charm
-
Smooth check-in! Clean cute room with comfortable beds and pillows in the most adorable town.

Historic hotel and surrounding town/area were interesting. We found the hotel during a random search online, and hoped it would live up to description. Lack of a bathroom fan for ventilation, also, carpet in room was worn and didn't seem clean. Attention to detail is important.

The Gin is a historical building with modern rooms. We stayed in a room with 2 beds. It worked out great. We really liked the rainfall shower head. There was a good variety of choices at the grab-n-go continental breakfast. The town is charming. We ate dinner at a local restaurant. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We were in town to tour a college campus. I’d stay here again.

Sewage smell on first and second floor. Front desk aware but says they unable to determine the source. Beds very hard

However, there was a very distinct, unpleasant smell in the lobby when we arrived. In talking with other guests, we weren't the only ones who noticed it. Thankfully, the smell didn't permeate into the room. The room was comfortable enough, but it wasn't meticulous. One of our drawers was broken, some age/wear/dust on the shoemolding, etc ... but nothing that would make us not want to stay there again. The pillows were AMAZING! One thing missing that would have been nice to have would be a dorm/hotel-sized fridge in the room. We travel with medicine that needs to be refrigerated, and this would have been helpful.

Excellent hotel, Great location. Very old fashion. Recommend.

Nice room. Great location.

Breakfast very slight cereal and a fruit Interior very dark. But the architecture could have been more enjoyable with proper lighting Clean and located in a safe area showers very nice!

The room was clean and tidy. There were complementary waters, which were perfect for our kids after a long day of travel. The shower was really nice as well. We loved the general aesthetic of the hotel and got some great pictures of our kids in the old phonebooths they still have. Just a great property that has done an excellent job of maintaining history while keeping up with modern amenities. We don't really have any major complaints. The biggest practical issue is parking just due to the location. There is a smaller lot immediately behind the hotel, which we were able to park in. It is a smaller area and the spaces are narrower, so it might be challenging if you have a larger vehicle. The hotel does have overflow ability into the courthouse parking lot across the street from their lot (about one to two blocks behind the hotel), and I'm confident that we would have been fine parking there if we had to. The overall area appeared safe and pleasant, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Room was nice ! Bathroom nice with an extra big shower . I like that they had the old school bottles of shampoo & Con. As well as bar soap. I don't like those dispensers! Plenty of towels & a blow dryer . Hard bed but fine . Soft sheets and ok pillows . There was no iron or board; no fridge . I was surprised with that as those seem pretty basic nowadays . Staff was very nice ;) check in was easy. Parking in back of hotel . Location was everything !!! Safe and walkable to all of downtown . Breakfast was bagels and cereal; coffee and juices . Very lite; nothing hot . Although they had a toaster for bagels . This hotel was worth the $$ . I was doing a one night stay on a road trip. I would def stay again .

The Robert E Lee is a beautifully renovated hotel in the heart of historic Lexington right next to the Washington Lee University and the Virginia Military institute. Two of the best American institutions… both are must see 🇺🇸

Absolutely loved the hotel, location, cost, room and staff. Looking forward to staying again when in town. No in room fridge or iron.

Lovely historic building. Good easy check in. Staff helpful. Multiple good food places nearby. No fridge. Breakfast was self serve - ok..but nothing to write home about!

We love the location right off highway 81.. The town was lovely and the food very good including the coffee shop and pastries next store for morning coffee. Couldn't be happier with our choice to stop for the night on our way to Dollywood
