The staff was fine. The rooms were good. The hotel would have been perfectly fine if the AC worked. It was hot when we got in the room. The thermostat said 78. We turned it to 72 and left. When we got back it was 79. The front desk said he would come reset it. In the meantime we turned it off completely and then back on. It started work after a few minutes. Yahoo. It got down to 75 and we were able to fall asleep. We woke up about 3 am and it was 80 in the room. Turned it off back on. It works. Cools down. Wake up in the morning and it 79. It’s totally unacceptable that the AC doesn’t work. We had two different rooms between the 5 of us and both rooms were the same. Don’t stay here if it’s hot out!

Time has stood still and it’s still 1984 at the Holiday Inn Manitowoc. While this may be nostalgic, it’s not pretty when it comes to basic hotel expectations in the year 2026. This Holiday Inn needs a serious rehab to bring it to hotel standards that are expected by the traveler in 2026

Nice hotel, the rear entry doors and entrance ways could use some work. First time i entered through one i thought i was going into a run down motel.

I love the location and the view. Walk distance from the lake.

No USB ports in the rooms for charging. Paint peeling off the doors in the bathroom.

Beautiful hotel. A joy to stay there. Offered everything I needed. For example: restaurant.

Room was excellent. But the stair at the back were very dirty. The grounds not well maintained when you mow you clean sidewalks after.

check in was fine. nice person at front desk. the experience went south from there, unfortunately. at 1030pm, we were asleep, until a man tried to gain entry to our room. (thankfully we had put the extra interior lock on.) person tried numerous times to get in. did not identify himself, nothing. turns out they had to switch something with the televisions, (switch to different tv service i think). now, why you would do this at 1030pm on a friday night? no idea. could have told us at check in that they were doing it shortly, but nope. when we spoke to this employee, he was rude, as if it was us inconveniencing him! "nobody is supposed to be in that room!" um, obviously we were. he told us he needed to do it then. i said no! absolutely not. he then insisted that they had to do it in the morning, i again said NO. we don't need it, do it another time. when i called the front desk, different person from checkin there, answered phone by saying, "hold" and put me on hold. nothing like, "good evening, this is front desk, may i please put you on a short hold?" nope. this happened all 3 times this weekend when i called the front desk. on that call, he came back on with "what do you want?". nice. i stopped by the front desk in the morning, "i absolutely do NOT want anyone in our room. NO setting up the tv, no new towels/sheets, don't need it." she said, absolutely, no problem. came back that night, bed made, stuff moved around. POOR. breakfast was decent. person at checkout was nice.

We stayed here during the MotoAmerica race weekend & couldn't be happier. There was some signs in the room of things that need to be fixed, door w water damage for instance, but overall great place. Good location, helpful staff, & easy to get around. Loved the all day coffee!

Hotel was very clean but is in great need of an update. Old carpet, dark hallways, damage to doors and walls.

Nothing says "Welcome" like dead plants, peeling faux leather, and wall wraps falling off a filthy elevator. Toilet seat falling off must have been missed by the cleaning staff. No charging ports for smart devices, and beds hard as a rock, and well worn on one side! Other than that, will find somewhere else next visit, perhaps a 2 or 3 star hotel.

Pool and hot tub was just absolutely disgusting. you could see the brown/green along the outside like it hasnt been cleaned in MONTHS. gunk in the hot tub and you could see chunks in the bubbles. just didnt seem very clean or sanitary at all. staff checking in was super nice, but when i returned my keys the lady had an attitude. the room was mid. a little gross, smelled like cigarettes. lots of imperfections in the paint and seals of the room. not a great stay :(
