Days Inn by Wyndham Mason City

When walking into the front lobby of the hotel, it smelled like cigarettes. When walking down the hallway to our room, it smelled like cigarettes. Our room was really bad with the smell of cigarettes. Apparently we had a smoking room. Our room had ashtrays in it. We did not know that there was such a thing as smoking room rooms in hotels. So that was our fault. But the entire hotel, even in the non-smoking sections, and the area where the continental breakfast was also smelled of cigarettes. We were moved to the only non-smoking room available. Of course, the hallway still reeked of cigarettes. There were a lot of activities going on in this town so there were not many hotels available. We will be sure to check in the future if this is a smoking hotel. Nonetheless, the smoke free zones also smelled like cigarettes.

The hotel is outdated, but clean. Breakfast was only take and go. Plenty of good coffee though. It's located in a great area - plenty of shopping and restaurants. The major drawback was the parking lot. It appeared to be a drug dealing location. I didn't feel safe taking my dog out for a bathroom break. I did see the manager come out and talk to the individuals there. The doors had to be pulled shut - they did not completely close on their own.

The room had a strange odor. The water was undrinkable. The breakfast was marginal. The coffee was good.

The room was big,

The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast and rooms were adequate, and the beds were good. The air conditioner was rather loud and made a whirrring noise" too.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast had absolutely no protein.

Every thing was great

Room was clean and it was quiet. Only one person working when we checked in and there was a note on the desk saying they would be back in 10 minutes.

Not much. The room stank of smoke wasn't the cleanest. The bed was old and lumpy.

Very friendly staff, quiet, room was clean. Area had many restaurants, and shopping in area.

The location, and staff were lovely. The price paid was by far to high for the breakfast and amenities. Also, being in Mason City.

The Road was closed and it was hard to find the entrance

The front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. He moved a fily with a barking dog to a different part of the hotel. He also, when we had trouble with the remote for the TV came and helped us manage finding TV stations.

The breakfast consisted of toast and the ac units were loud and do not work well.

Overall clean, friendly staff and quiet. "Breakfast" was a small pre-packaged Cinnamon roll or toast. The internet service was super slow, and you had to sign up for Wyndham rewards to get access without needing to pay. Junk mail in exchange for using the "free internet". I did get a restful sleep but couldn't use my laptop to do anything.

Right when I got there I was greeted harshly and told to “sit down and wait” all while 2 male staff stood there staring at me while waiting for another woman, I then received my key and went to my room, which was a very small single bed room when I booked a double, (I just accepted it because I am a solo traveler, I just like to book doubles for extra space and the staff was already unwelcoming so I didn’t want to deal with it). The shower/bathtub had hair strung all over it and the frame of the bed was literally made of metal and springs (SOOO LOUD). 10pm rolls around and I’m trying to go to sleep because I had to be up at 5:45am, the walls were paper thin so I could hear every little noise in the rooms next to me and the hallway, by 12am-1am the staff members were YELLING in the hallways I’m not even kidding I couldn’t get any sleep. I didn’t bother with any of the amenities so I can’t speak on that but I definitely recommend other places in the area.

Everything was good

The rooms very clean, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Rooms were dated but again it fit our needed for a shower and a clean spot to sleep for the night
