The hotel was unique. It felt like you were staying in a relative’s mansion. The location was terrific. We could walk to downtown Montclair easily.

We love everything about the George. We have been here many times and always look forward to coming back.

Why not have bedside lights that are bright enough for reading? And a telephone in the room that connects with the main desk?

Very nice boutique hotel located in a quiet area of Montclair. The staff is super friendly and goes the extra mile to be helpful (I have left behind an AirPod - they found it and shipped it to my home). The design makes the place one-of-a-kind. The whole property is clean and well-maintained. I gave it an overall 4 stars because of a few small things that, in my view, the management should address to make the customer experience truly remarkable: the bathroom door in our room (Martha) is in bad need of some WD-40, the room above us needs better insulation or a rug on the floor - we had someone up there going to the bathroom every hour or so throughout the night wearing heavy shoes/boots, the breakfast was missing still water and - a small suggestion: upgrade the coffee machine to a Jura - it will go very weel with the gourmet food that you are serving. Despite the small inconveniences described above, we would highly recommend The George!

Beautiful Hotel, close to everything. Nice breakfast every morning, evening wine and free ice cream and snacks

We loved that this is an independent hotel and small business. The owner is a local and cares about Montclair. The interior is decorated brilliantly and has a clever motif. For example, the rooms don't have numbers, they have names. Inside each room you will find photos of famous people with that name. It's a fun game to guess who each of these people are and some of them may surprise you. Breakfast was included and some of the offerings came from local businesses. Parking was ample, which is a big deal in this area of Montclair. The hotel is also ideally placed within walking distance from many of the major attractions in town; it's nice to park the car in one, safe, location and be able to get to many of the places that makes this town special. Check-in and check-out is easy. We also loved the candy bar!

The front door on the ground floor slams shut very loudly for every entry and exit, which makes it fortunate when you are not in the room just above that slamming door. Not so fortunate when you are.

I loved my stay here and I’m sad I didn’t book more days. I guess that means I will need to come back. The unique room naming system and then trying to identify all the portraits was fun. Of course the candy closet is a fan favorite. The breakfast offerings and the breakfast room were great. They also have a water bottle refill station (for me I always love when a place has this). The room itself was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Couldn’t really ask for much more. The staff was super nice too!

Breakfast was great, parking was easy, surrounding area felt safe, room was a little loud/small for the price, elevator was out of order so 3 levels of stairs were a little difficult. Enjoyed our stay but not in a hurry to do it again.

Rooms were so elegant, and the fresh baked cookies and complimentary wine/candy closet were very gracious. Staff was sweet as well!

This place was truly a surprise. We had a number of rooms for a family event in town. Each room was unique, well appointed and interesting. Hit all of the bars - clean, comfortable beds and excellent service. The women who checked us in was professional, personable and helpful. Could not ask for anything more.

The place is beautiful. Clean and comfortable. A little chilly where breakfast was served but it was unusually very cold outside. Love the library to relax Def highly recommend
