Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Auburn Opelika

We ended up staying three nights, not once was the room was cleaned. We had to ask for towels every day and then had to go get them from the front desk. The so called breakfast was disgusting everyday. I wanted to French vanilla creamer, which was there on Monday morning. I had to ask for some on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, and they gave me what they wanted me to have, I couldn’t select how much I wanted for my coffee.

Only to discover the next morning that the Carts tires are made of heavy rubber. I believe I woke her up returning to our room after 12:00am.

Staff was pleasant during check in/check out, as well as housekeeping staff. Hotel appeared to be clean in public areas and our room appeared clean as well. Room was comfortable and A/C unit worked wonderfully. We did not eat breakfast on site so can't speak to that. It did appear clean and well stocked, though. Location was important to us during this stay...Tiger Town shopping center, restaurants, gas stations, etc. After two long days at a statewide championship swim meet, it was nice to have dining options literally within walking distance. Since our main focus was the Sportsplex, being able to hop onto the interstate every morning to get there quickly was a huge bonus. Overall, very pleased with this property. Lighting in bathroom was pretty awful. Seems like bulbs were about to fizzle out, perhaps? It's been a while since I've stayed in a hotel with poor lighting in the bathroom, so it was incredibly irritating. Thankfully, I always bring a travel lighted makeup mirror...but still. Maybe an update is needed? Also, I tried plugging in three different hairdryers into the bathroom outlet. All three kept falling out (mine, my daughters, and the hotels). It was extremely frustrating.

Our new room was fine, on the 3rd floor, but the common hallway was very hot-Air conditioning wasn’t working. It was 90, plus degrees outside & felt like that in the common hallway. I always reported this to the hotel clerk. They said “someone would check on it.” We stayed just one night. It didn’t appear much different the next day. The breakfast buffet was above average & the morning desk clerk was pleasant. I’d give the stay a 2/10 rating. Would not stay there again.

Average hotel. Good coffee.Clean. Staff, mostly friendly Was insulted by the extra $20 incidental fee after paying $170 for this 2 star hotel. Seems Marriot BonVoy members should be trusted a little better. Supposed to get this money refunded in 5-7 days (Maybe I'll forget?). Walls were paper thin and there was lots of noise. The toilet was way too low(for us older folks).

I love the location. It’s close to Tiger-town but it’s also quiet and peaceful N/A

Was not informed about the additional charge on my bill about incidentals when I checked in. Was not given a print copy of the bill nor asked if I would like an email of the bill.
