Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Rochester - Marketplace by IHG

It’s the kind of place where callus rules take precedence over exceptional circumstances. I wouldn’t recommend it for that reason.

The room was clean, bed was comfy, and noise was not an issue! Good location as well with lots of food choices.

The hotel needs serious updating which they were in the process of doing. Unfortunately this is being done while guest are there. It's not totally unclean but just not modern. For the price, you can't be too upset. The pool and gym were good. My main concern were the carpets throughout (room and hallways)- they show dirt and seem soiled. Cleaning staff was just ok even though we tipped daily. Staff in general was nice. I would not return until/unless they complete renovations. The kitchen was in repair so there was free continental breakfast - very simple but appreciated. Not sure paying extra for breakfast is warranted. That being said, pricing was good as we booked last minute over the holiday weekend - and in this case, you get what you pay for. The location was great - very easy access and a lot of shopping.

I thought I had reserved a different hotel on the way back home. I was mad at myself because the experience at this hotel was bad on the way out to our vacation destination. This time the experience was worse. Again, there were four of us in the room and only three sets of towels were provided; had to go to the office to get more. The room was cramped again compared to other IHG properties we've used. The bathrooms are horrible. They have no ventilation. The ceiling was stained and damaged because of water or steam. The beds were very uncomfortable. The property next to the hotel is under active construction, and we were awakened around 6am. A lot of the construction workers evidently stay at the hotel. There were a lot of trucks in the parking lot, and a lot of them leaving their rooms and slamming doors at 6am. The construction noise started shortly after.

The room was clean and updated. The hallways smelled of smoke and weed. People loitering outside side entrances smoking when that areas should be kept clear. Convenient location to places to eat and exit from the highway. Very friendly staff.

The staff was beyond compare, kind & accommodating, we will always stay here when visiting family in NY.

The location was so-so. It was on a busy corner where you could only exit one way. There was construction going on right next to the location. The room felt cramped compared to other Holiday Inn locations I have stayed at. The toilet was broken and running non-stop for the two night stay. The room was over a sitting area where people liked to smoke marijuana so the room stank. The bathroom needs updated. There were only three sets of towels in the room even though our reservation was for four, so we had to go to the front desk to request more.

The entire staff from the front end lobby to the breakfast manager was friendly and accommodating. Super clean and well maintained inside and outside also.
