Ledges by the Bay

This hotel has an absolutely spectacular view of Penobscott Bay. The bed was comfortable and the room, though old, was clean enough. Unfortunately the hotel’s description states incorrectly that the hotel has a restaurant. It has a breakfast room. The owner recommended a restaurant down the road, but it was closed. We ended up at McDonald’s! The next morning, there was cold cereal and fruit on offer for breakfast, plus a waffle machine. Everything was self service. The coffee machine had a sign on it saying the regular strength coffee button didn’t work, and it definitely didn’t. We had to drink decaf. Only powdered creamer was available. When we took out the lowfat milk that had been placed in a refrigerator for use with the cereal to use for the coffee, the rather unfriendly desk attendant ( owner?) came right over to put it back. Unacceptable! So, five stars for the room, 0 stars for the service. Average 2.5, which I am rounding up to three.

The motel seems to have been recently renovated. The rooms were very clean and the view is beautiful. I liked everything about the property and would definitely stay again.

Great views of the bay. Friendly staff.

This place has a great view of the bay, not much else. It seemed pretty overpriced for the amenities or lack thereof. Breakfast had not working coffee machine, two choices for cereal fruit loops and cheerios. It did have a waffle maker. There are a lot of choices in that region, another might have made more sense.

Room was spotless. Staff were friendly and professional. Beautiful view of the bay and parking right in front of the room. An excellent experience.

View was nice when sitting in chairs and when breakfast room was closed Our room was next to office and where people eat their breakfast, had to keep curtain closed while they were there.

The view was awesome! Clean room and great staff. Would have like to have had some type protein on breakfast bar.

It's conveniently located and there is a great view from the rooms. There is no microwave in the room and so you have to go downstairs and down to the middle to find a microwave and ice machine. Which is fine, just not convenient. The breakfast offered is nothing to write home about and you can't really eat much if you're GF.

We thought we had booked a room with a view but apparently did not so we ended up in a room by the highway with no view and a small window. Also, we had to navigate through uncut grass and over a cement curb to get to our room. The breakfast room had an amazing view of the water which we enjoyed.

The view and the grassy area was beautiful. Parking was easy, but we had to carry our suitcases down the stairs to the room. Just a FYI when you book a room and can’t do that. I wish that we wouldn’t have had the spiderwebs and spiders outside our room where the chairs were. Breakfast was very limited to cereals and waffles.

Pleasant

The rooms are small, I got double beds and paid for the superior room. I had to get rid of 3 spiders right off, the facet leaked and we had to put a wash cloth in the sink so we could sleep. We couldn't use one whole drawer of the 2 drawer stand because there was no handle on it. The breakfast options were slim but they had coffee and bananas, the second day the coffee machine was down and no bananas. Thankfully theres a coffee shop down the road. Before we left we asked staff about a path on the property leading down to the ocean, he assured us we could go on it...when we got to it the steep stairs leading down to the ocean had been broken and it was rotting away. We rushed to get off. We had had enough and left, we will not return.

Beautiful view of the bay and ocean beyond. Was able to walk down to the shore. Steps to the shoreline were in ill repair and completely broken and dangerous. The bed was horrible and uncomfortable, and the mattress was old and should have been replaced. For a pillow top, it was nonexistent. Wasn't able to have a good night's sleep the whole stay. When mentioned to the front desk, I was told, "I'll make a note of that they change them every 6-8 years". No remedy given.

What a great find! We needed a one night stay but wished we could have stayed longer. Lovely, comfortable rooms overlooking the bay! Delicious breakfast options! Very friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location for tourist attractions. Recommend!

Beautiful spot to stay. I wish we had the room with a view but we still had breakfast with a great view.

The air conditioner was located so high up on the wall that we could not reach or read the controls. Asa result we had to seep ina warmer than it should have been room.
