Candlewood Suites San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston

Very clean! Friendly staff! The location was far from most shopping, restaurants, activities, but the facility itself was fantastic!

Maintenance crew is either lacking or non-existent. Cracked light switches, missing screws on air conditioning panels, and cold showers from 6am-8am on a Sunday morning when they know 98% of their guests are about to check out. Amenities need to be updated. Communication between the employees very poor…..first time hearing “I’m sorry they didn’t tell me” from front desk personnel. Hotel will definitely be on my “do not reserve” list in one of my favorite Texas cities.

The staff was wonderful, very friendly & helpful when we needed anything. Room was clean, nice & bigger than expected. Would stay here again.

Only downside i say is that they are renovating it and it could be loud at times, but they offer everything you need in a hotel. Great service. This is my usual go to for when im visiting

Large room, clean and easy to find the hotel. The hotel itself was very quiet, not a lot of guests. Front desk very friendly at check in. The place was nearly deserted, we were literally the only car in the parking lot at 3pm. Check in was easy, but we had an issue with the door lock and could not get ahold of the front desk for half an hour. No one was there, no one was answering the phone. We figured it out eventually, but someone should have a cell on them or always be at the desk...road noise from highway is loud.

Unfortunately it is right across from the train tracks and you are awaken by the the train several times throughout the night. It is pet friendly so there is this a distinct smell that does remind you of pets. When we stayed there, the room was not thoroughly clean and there was pet urine in an area of the room. Beds were comfortable and staff was friendly.

The rooms and the staff are very nice. Staff was super helpful. Their little store in the lobby is limited. Overall very nice time at the hotel.

The only issue was that there is no pool on site. That was not a personal issue for us but a few families went downstairs wanting to get in the pool. A great feature about this hotel is they have actual full size bottles of Dove Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and lotion in the restrooms. That was a huge plus for us. There is no oven but there is pots, pans, utensils, dinnerware, dishwashing liquid, dish scrubber, a stove top range, a full size refrigerator and freezer with an ice maker, and a microwave. We stayed in the long size suite so the bedroom had its own tv, and the comforter was super soft and comfortable. The bedroom also had blackout curtains which was super convenient. In our king size suite we stayed in, there was also a "living area" that had a recliner, a chair, a rolling table, and a built in side table. The TV does not connect to WiFi though so we weren't able to cast our apps to it but it did have HBO and Cinemax so we were able to watch a few movies.

It was close to where I needed to go. No breakfast. Please change that.
