The Catrina Hotel

location room not cleaned well. hot muggy, no number to speak to staff. no soap. gross tables. looks are deceiving.

Exceptional

Everything was clean except there were several long dark hairs on the floor. It was convenient to the SF airport. My only complaint is that I tried to call several times in the few days prior to my arrival to confirm and all I got was a recording saying that the phone number didn’t accept incoming calls and this was from the link on their website so I was getting a little nervous. I ended up having to call their parent Company to confirm my reservation. I mentioned this at check-in, and apparently they have a bot that answers most of their calls, but only during certain hours. I did not find that a satisfactory explanation. Although than that, it was a great place for a quick overnight before flying out of San Francisco. We had dinner at Jack’s down the street and it was delicious with a great menu.

The manager was surprisingly rude. A mix up had happened with two reservations being booked, and instead of helping me work to cancel one, as I was just one guest, the manager on site refused any help and double charged me. She insisted there was nothing she could do, unless a new guest came to book a room and she would refund me then. Their phone number does not work, and they do not send confirmation emails through their own website. Unless you use Booking.com to make your reservation and have that security, this small hotel feels like they're happy to scam people. I would not recommend this hotel to others.

The room was spacious and the location was very convenient! It's near downtown and is walking distance to nice restaurants and a Japanese grocery store. I also like how it was kind of secluded and tucked away. Not enough sink space

I liked how clean, comfortable, and quiet the place is. Just the water had a weak pressure in the bathroom.

The room was very clean and the location was convenient, but it didn't quite feel "as advertised" from the photos. There was a reception desk, but no living person at it the whole time I was there. Instead, there was a remote kiosk with an attendant on video to check me in. I'm not even sure how you would request clean towels or something that would need attention. And there was lots of noise from the parking lot in the morning and evenings as people would come and go...or just hang outside their rooms and shoot the breeze.

There is no front desk, you’ll talk to someone over a screen. Ice machine wasn’t working. The shower wasn’t very clean. It wasn’t too bad but it was worth the price. Free parking.

Second , the room we were assigned was flooding from a plumbing issue in the bathroom. (which apparently was know to the computer host, but forgotten) . Third, the room we were then assigned shared a parking space with tree other rooms. Luckily we didn't have to leave till the next day .

The room was spacious and clean. The front desk/lobby area is perfumed with one of those sticks in oil aromatherapy things. This is nice for some people, but very yucky for people with allergies to fragrances. On Sunday at 8:30 AM there was no live staff, only a screen to video chat with somebody far away. The posted hours said 8 AM to 8 PM. There was a phone number posted on the sign and the same phone number listed on the Internet. When you call it, you get a recording that says “this line does not accept any phone calls.”

BUT, I would suggest adding at least a hot tub, a modest but good gym, and more office staff for assistance. I would say that overall I had a mainly positive experience at the Catrina. Thank you.
