This was the perfect place to stay if you’re going to the Grand Canyon ( south rim). The south rim entrance is only about fifteen minutes away! The hotel has a both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. The outdoor has a nice courtyard area with ping pong table and corn hole games. The indoor pool area has huge doors that open up so the pool area is not too stuffy or humid and you don’t have that chlorine smell. Also the indoor pool area has a movie screen and they play Disney Pixar movies. The indoor pool has a submerged concert bench built all around the pool so you can sit in the pool and watch the movie, which is a clever idea. The pool was a little on the colder side. The hotel is a little different it is a campus style so we were in a second building but they are only separated by the courtyard. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The shower heads were high( if you’re taller it’s kind of a big deal) with good water pressure. Each day there were several elk wandering in the front yard of the hotel and hanging out in the bushes. The only issue we had was our mini fridge was not working but they replaced it right away. Also they do not have a complimentary breakfast. They do have an on site restaurant but it was pricey. This is the best Holiday Inn Express I have ever stayed at and would definitely stay there again! Especially if the pool and hot tub amenities are a priority for you.

They should specify the location better

The air conditioning unit in the room was really noisy but the room itself was comfortable. The pool area is great and is family friendly. The restaurants are very overpriced and also not open for lunch hours so you have to leave the hotel if you want to eat. I was told by an employee that because most people spend their day at the park, they don’t have dining service mid day.

Clean and spacious room (we stayed in a premium room in block 7000 which was updated last year). Reception staff is hit or miss. The ladies were very helpful but the guy who did our check out was unhelpful to the point of rude.

Some hidden resort fees were unnecessary

A nice place to stay with family. Our children loved the place. It has an indoor and outdoor pool. The rooms were spacious.

    Nice place

One of the best parts of our stay was the excellent recommendation from the front desk. They directed us to a less crowded spot to watch the sunset over the Grand Canyon, which was absolutely breathtaking. Afterward, we were able to walk from the hotel to see the Fourth of July drone show, which was spectacular—honestly even better than fireworks! Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, with one exception: the carpet had quite a few stains. The hallway carpeting also showed significant wear. I would have preferred hard-surface flooring, which is easier to keep clean, sanitize, and free of odors. Overall, you can’t beat this hotel’s location. Its close proximity to the Grand Canyon, combined with the great amenities and friendly staff, made it an excellent place to stay.

Before our trip, we called several times to ask about the Grand Canyon shuttle. One employee hung up on us, and our later calls went unanswered. When we arrived, it became obvious why—the check-in line stretched almost to the door. The shuttle information was also inconsistent. Online it says every 30 minutes, hotel staff told us every 15 minutes, but in reality it only came every 45 minutes. After watching the Grand Canyon sunset, we rushed to catch the 7:45 p.m. shuttle, only to have it leave a minute early, forcing us to wait until 8:30 p.m. When we returned, the restaurant had a 20-minute wait for two people despite only a few occupied tables. There is no room service, which was surprising for a hotel of this size. We ended up in the pub, where the lone employee was overwhelmed, and the area was not very clean. Many guests stay here specifically to experience the Grand Canyon at sunset. Keeping the main restaurant open until at least 11:00 p.m., or offering room service, would better accommodate guests returning in the evening—especially international travelers dealing with different time zones. Overall, the property is excellent, but staffing and food service need significant improvement.

We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Resort The Squire near the Grand Canyon. The location is fantastic—just a few minutes from the South Rim entrance, making it very convenient for early morning and sunset visits to the canyon

Staff in the restaurant need training, called operator une for several times, was never be able to get anyone. The rig was not working, two lamps were not working either

Couple bumps with communication from the front office staff. Housekeeping was missed one day and we had to ask 5 times for a fan. The A/C shuts off at night so the room gets pretty warm.

    Wait to check in

There usually weren't enough graham crackers for smores but it was a nice touch. They never cleaned or replenished our room-- we were there for two nights. I'm not sure what the formula is for getting a hotel room cleaned these days-- it's not at all clear and it's a disappointment to come home to a messy room in the evening. All in all, it was lovely but the kids seem to have priority.

There is a slight billing problem, but everything seemed great. I believe the people at Holiday Inn clarified that the charge was unauthorized somewhere.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

The parking was terrible and when they cleaned the room, they didn’t put toilet paper

    Nothing
