When we showed up after having booked a room for the night through Expedia. The hotel and restaurant have good reviews. all I could find was an entrance into a dark shutdown restaurant, no one around, chairs stacked on tables. I walked upstairs and all around the building. I tried to call the number that was hand written on a piece of paper on the front door but the reception was so bad I couldn’t get the call to go through. After trying to find someone for about an hour we found a different spot to stay since my wife and child were exhausted from traveling. I imagine the place could be nice when the lobby/restaurant is open.

When I booked this I thought what a charming place. And it is but things you need to know I wasn’t aware of. There is no elevator for a 3 story building. After a certain hour there is no one working at the front desk. In fact there is no phone # to call anyone either. There is no phone in your room either. Although the confirmation said the bed was queen it was tiny, squeaky, and very hard. The AC worked great and the restaurant was delish. Loved that they had 2 bottles of water in the room for us. Went to make coffee but there is no creamer. Couldn’t call anyone as no is there to request it. The room was clean and felt like I was visiting my great aunt’s house. There was only one small bedside lamp. Three lights in the bathroom. And there was suppose to be a hairdryer in the room but there wasn’t. But again no one to call. Leaving was very creepy. You’re exiting the restaurant and no one is there. They use codes for all doors which is a nice thing but if you forget the code who do you call? Staff was very nice. The only entrance to the hotel is by stairs. A young man sat at the top (a valet I think) and opened the door for anyone coming in but did not offer to help with our 3 bags up those entrance stairs.

The location was great. For being near Logan Airport the air traffic wasn't bad. Place and staff where solid and the neighborhood and beaches were great to visit.
-
The restaurant on the first level was very convenient. The food was good and reasonably priced.
-
Very nice staff. Great restaurant on property. Nice walk along the water after. Room was very good. About 15 minute drive to BOS airport.
-
Clean Very basic & a-bit pricey for one night stay

Loved the location as it felt I was at home since it’s located at a residential area. Neighborhood was quiet and has walkable restaurants and small convenience stores. Overall great place to stay!!

It was adequate for a one night stay, and easy to drive from there to the airport to return our rental car when we left. Parking was quite a distance walking uphill from the parking lot, and for our money I would not consider this a high-end hotel. No elevator. No breakfast or coffee in the lobby. I think prices were inflated due to the FIFA events, but even standard pricing seems high considering the lack of high-end facilities or services.

Very good location. A bit far from the airport.

Location very good. Restaurant meal excellent. Room clean. Air conditioner very noisy. Could have used more creamers for in-room coffee. Would be good to have coffee machine and cream and sweeteners and tea available in lobby. Many guests are elderly, would be good to have help toting luggage up the stairs. See above.

Great place to stay. Nice restaurant and bar on the first floor. Rooms and the whole hotel was very clean. All of the staff was very helpful and so nice. It's very close to the airport, downtown Boston and not far for a drive up to Salem. I would definitely stay there again.

Parking was on street if available or around the block in a small lot. King room had a bed and 2 dining chairs, no table or desk. No elevator, rickety steps. Common area, as advertised is nothing more than 2 couches and 2 chairs at the entrance to the bar. More like a waiting area for the restaurant. No outside drinks or food allowed. Terrace was a deck with no chairs or tables overlooking the street and houses across the way. 3rd floor room , you could hear the ruckus from bar patrons outside. No concierge or room phones. Check in desk is the same as the restaurant check in. No alarm clocks or wake up calls. Food was adequate. Bar was average with 1 tv. The decor was nice with moldings and tiled ceilings reminiscent of older years. Bathrooms were updated and clean but water pressure in shower was lacking. Bar and restaurant hours were limited and no breakfast available. 3rd floor view you could see the ocean through the houses. For the price it was lacking things to my satisfaction.

1. I arrived at the hotel at 2 45 pm. It is a steep walk up 6 or so stairs to get into the hotel, which was difficult for me to get my suitcase up. No one was there. I had to sit around and wait for staff to show up which was 3:30 or so. There are no other businesses around. It is 1 and a half stories up to the first floor of rooms with several stairs. Lucky for me, the gentleman that checked me in carried the suitcase up for me. The room was fine and the shower/bath was also fine. When I left in the morning, there was no one there. I had to get my suitcase down by myself and there was no breakfast, no coffee, nothing. And because no one was there, I was unable to get a receipt and there was no one there to help me get a taxi to the airport. I would go to the restaurant again, but I wouldn't stay in the hotel again.

It's not a chain hotel with a gym and a pool, keep that in mind. The food was excellent and the service wonderful.

On street parking with a pass from Winthrop Arms. Room was clean but not senior friendly (no grab bars near shower and had to step over side of tub to shower). Rooms are on second floor above restaurant. There isn’t an elevator. Walls are thin. No ice machine. Had to go to bar for ice. They had no objection. Pricey for area.

Nice genuine original looks like family hotel Under reconstruction

We slept and it was quite, but the room has wooden shudders that don't block light well. A poor choice when arriving from Pacific or Mountain time zones. Winthrop Arms did not communicate with us and still hasn't. The hotel is basically unattended. The management does not answer phone calls or emails or text messages.(Perhaps when the restaurant opens at noon there will be someone there that also manages the hotel). Who knows? You are completely on your own with a late check in. We arrived after midnight. I got a call from someone the day before giving me a code to the lobby front door lock and the lock on the room. The room lock number was part of the address (secure?). The woman was unable to give useful directions to their parking lot, which is a walk and street crossing away from the lobby; and not visible from the hotel entrance. Luckily we could park a handicap spot on the curb.
