La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Woodburn

I love the location, convenience to local restaurants and the freeway. I love the business suite rooms with the kitchenette and the apartment like feel. Huge comfortable bed, dog friendly with a decent area to exercise them. Staff was attentive and friendly. There was a dead rat in the dog potty area. The latch on the outside door was inconsistently working with the key card, which made it really inconvenient for going in/out with dogs or unloading/loading the car. The key card also seemed to struggle on my room door- sometimes the door would beep and recognize the card, but not actually disengage the lock, it took a few attempts. I have stayed at this location many times before, and have not had this issue with the doors previously.

I like the location close to I-5, to restaurants and gas but it’s quiet and safe. Breakfast is good. There’s no freezer, the pillows are too firm for us.

To steady myself, I reached for the towel rack, which gave way immediately, causing me to fall to the floor. The manager was very kind, asking about my well-being, and I told her my ego was a bit bruised and showed her the scar on the back of my hand, and banged up my right knee, both of which continue to heal. Maintenance came in while we were away for two days and removed the damaged towel rack. Nothing else was said. Other than that unfortunate incident, we had a very nice stay. My one critique: When making reservations and promising something like a walk-in shower, the hotel should be required to ensure the customer doesn't have to experience the injury I did.

Great bed and pillows. A lot of wear on corners of walls, doors, and trim edges. Elevator was out of order, bit they did send an email to us after we booked the room stating that. Breakfast was usual La Quinta: waffle machine, cereal, toast, yogurt, fruit, and those sad instant eggs with sad gray sausage links.

Pet friendly means your room will smell like dog. It was so gross. There was carpet in the room so it retained the smell of all dogs prior. Wished that they would upgrade the flooring so it wasn't carpet, we didn't have a pet but we chose this room because we wanted the room with the kitchenette. The stove top was strange, looked like the coil didn't fit inside, we didn't use it. Microwave and mini fridge was clean and worked fine. BYO hand soap, paper towels. Bathroom was small... to use the toilet with the door closed you need to step into the shower to close the door. (My parents said their bathroom was bigger than ours and had a full fridge, but also smelt like dogs.) The AC was on in our room when we entered so it was freezing when we showed up at 8:30pm at night and when we turned on the heater.... that was a blast of dog smell so we had to turn it off. We ended up sleeping with no heater and had our kids wearing sweaters to bed, which was freezing all night. There was a dead mosquito on our bed when we showed up too. Free breakfast was yummy and location to Mt. Angel ocktoberfest/shopping/restaurants was awesome. We booked two nights but it smelt so bad we didn't stay the second night... drove 3hrs to sleep in our own bed at home the next day. Do not recommend this hotel unless they upgrade their rooms to eliminate the dog smell.

The one negative was the elevator was not working and our room was on the 3rd floor.

The room was quite for being next to the freeway. Very comfortable bed and bedding. The hotel was full. The breakfast area was clean and refreshed often with fresh food. Staff was very pleasant. The only negative was the elevator was not working. I would definitely stay again.

We had 2 rooms, 2 nights, one for husband & I and 1 for our son and his family of 6. As soon as we entered the room an the awful combination of strong cleaning products and best described a cinnamon scent that "masked" the smell of wet dogs. The bathroom smelled like urine and there was hair in and out of the shower basin. It was pet friendly & we knew that. However, there is no excuse for the stench and uncleanliness. Upon a late arrival (took us 5 hours of road travel, I-5 road closures and an accident) We were exhausted and walked into a smelly stuffy room. We opened the bedroom window, (only one window), and turned on the vents in the restroom and kitchen. That helped, and we went to bed. Next morning, our kids shared the same experience. They turned their heater on, buy more "cinnadog" smell flooded out, so they shut it off. It was a cold night and they slept with their sweaters and jackets on. Why didn't we report this right away? Again, a long day of work, the long drive and a big next day of events. Absolutely exhausted. We left early the next morning, for an event and we returned to the hotel at 10:30pm. We had decided earlier that we would check out when we got back. There is a no refund policy and we know that too, but in this case, I believe we should have been given a refund since is was nothing we did wrong. Instead, I just received our invoice, paid in full, no follow up.

Nice room and good location

The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. I appreciated the room arrangement with the closet and sink vanity creating a little dressing area. The elevator was not working, but the 2 people at the front desk carried our stuff up to the 3rd floor. The room was quiet in spite of being located close to the interstate. My only complaint was the strong fragrance used in the hallways. I'd suggest not using any fragrance in the hallways. Fortunately, the room didn't have any smell/fragrance like the hallways. The breakfast was very good. There were hot options like eggs, bacon, biscuits & gravy, cold cereal, milk alternatives, small pots of yogurt, granola, 2 waffle makers, a nice selection of teas, and good coffee. There were bread, bagels and packaged pastries. There was a sign in the breakfast room saying they had gluten free options you could ask for.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nicer than most and breakfast was great!

Not quite as nice as it seems online. The staff was excellent. But lots of noise into the night and thin walls where you could hear the dogs down the hall barking.

Overall, it was a good one night stay for tax free shopping rest before we continued our trip to California.
