Trailborn Surf and Sound, Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy

Kept nicely. Restaurant was exceptionally good. Portions huge and priced fair. Wait staff were delightful. Grass area is a great idea for folks to relax away from sand and for children to play safely away from ocean. Two flower pots outside near bar needed white painting and needed flowers. Im a flower lover and those pots bothered me. Haha! Walk to beach needs path widened.

Really fun property to stay, nice staff. The rental chairs on the beach were an extra cost that others just took over when we went to go inside during a light rain shower. I think they should be included in staying at the hotel. They got the chairs for free after I paid $60 for three! Otherwise, great place!

Television did not work. I did received a credit. Staff was very nice. Not the same as when Blockade Runner. Very pricey. Asked to extend one day and it was $800 plus fees.

The coffee service in the lobby area was pitiful. Staff did the best they could with what was available but paying near $6 for a medium size serving should get you better coffee and a better selection of creamers. You can easily do better.

It was amazing Loved the property

Great property located on Wrightsville Beach. Although the hotel structure is a little older, all of the updates made by Trailborn have made the property feel new. All the amenities are there with a nice small pier across the street on the sound side of the island for watching sunsets.

Hands down one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The property is beautiful!! Highly recommend the oceanfront side if you can splurge a bit. The views were to die for. The property is so well maintained. Even in the dark of night I saw staff out taking out trash, maintaining the lawn, etc and then first thing in the morning they were out on the beach setting up chairs and umbrellas for guests. The staff were genuinely amazing! If you run into Fab, stop and have a quick chat with her! She was working hard to keep that hotel clean every time we saw her and was such a sweetheart! Every staff member was so accommodating and kind. Anything we wanted or needed they were one step ahead of me. The room was so spacious and clean and beautiful. We booked a chair and umbrella package for one of the days we stayed which was beyond convenient. It’s the lounger chairs too not the short ones. They also have many fun activities you can book through them, like sunset cruises. Unfortunately we didn’t get around to trying it out, but I enjoyed this stay and property so much I will be returning!

The pool area is great, although a little small, so get there early if you want to grab a chair. Beach access is super convenient, too. There isn’t a ton to do in the immediate surrounding area without driving, but honestly, we loved just staying on-site and enjoying the pool, beach, food, and relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely stay again!

The hotel was newly renovated and really hip. The rooms were nice and spacious. The bar food was delicious and the seating areas to hang with friends around the bar and lobby were plentiful. The outdoor lawn area was fantastic for kids.

Used to stay here when it was the Blockade Runner and it was our first time back under new ownership. The renovations and face uplift are all very nice. The resort will feel familiar to past guests, but with more modern furniture and aesthetics. Still wish they would include the beach chairs and umbrellas as part of the room charge rather than as separate costs. Staff were excellent and the resort is still a great selection for Wrightsville Beach.

Drinks were excellent this year! But please bring back the big pretzel. It’s too hot to eat a big meal for lunch and pretzels are just perfect.

Biggest issue was trying to figure out what the charges are. They charged the cc before and it was supposed to be pay on arrival. The charged upon arrival $75 for incidentals and maybe something else because the amount on my cc was maybe $175 more and they said at the desk we had $25 a day credit for use at the hotel, so we didn’t use it not sure if it was a gimmick. I asked at the desk after check out if the amount on the account screen was correct and she said yes and I would get an email receipt, which I haven’t seen. Very confusing. The valet said that they charge for everything. There said they provided beach chairs and umbrellas, yet they charged $50 a day.

This is a unique property with access to the ocean and the sound. We enjoyed the different boating opportunities: sunset cruise on a pontoon, sailing charter, and sea kayaking rentals.

We had breakfast one morning and lunch one day at the pool. Had dinner two different days at the restaurant. The dinners were amazing!! The shrimp and kale appetizers were amazing. Definitely enjoyed that. Breakfast was good . Lunch was good. Very happy and satisfied with e! More coffee in the rooms. My husband and I drink 2 cups each in the morning. So having 4 filters everyday would have been nice. Other than that there isn’t anything. We had a great time and great drinks and great food

My stay at Trailborn Surf & Sound was overall very enjoyable. The room was comfortable, and the view of the ocean was truly exceptional—one of the highlights of the trip. The atmosphere by the pool was relaxing, and the drinks were excellent, adding to the overall experience.However, I did notice that the bathroom upkeep fell short of the standard I expected. The showerheads and the bathroom vent were noticeably dirty, and there appeared to be some type of buildup or growth on the bathroom’s sliding door. These issues made the bathroom feel unpleasant despite the otherwise great stay.With improved attention to bathroom maintenance, this property has the potential to offer an outstanding experience from start to finish.
