Americus Hotel, Unscripted by Hyatt

I had a terrible stay here and got almost zero sleep. To be fair, the hotel room itself and the staff are not the problem—they were perfectly fine. The issue is entirely the hotel's location and a severe lack of soundproofing. Motorists were zooming past the hotel the entire night. Even though we were all the way up on the 4th floor, the walls did absolutely nothing to block the noise. The sound reverberated through the room so loudly that it felt like the traffic was right next to us. After driving all day, I desperately needed rest, but instead, I spent the entire night tossing and turning. Bottom line: If you don't care about sleeping at night, then this is the perfect place to go!! Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Food was not very good but other than that, everything was wonderful

The breakfast was excellent and the room was lovely. There was a large group hanging around the dining room after finishing their breakfast taking pictures and being disruptive including talking loudly on their phones. I would have appreciated it if a staff member had directed these people to another area so that we could enjoy our breakfast in peace.

The staff at reception were so helpful and made great recommendations - they take pride in their hotel and city. I would definitely come back.

Great place

Strongly recommend! We have stayed at Americus multiple times. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful, lots to do in the area, and the onsite restaurant is great!

It was clean, well maintained and beautiful. The room was very spacious and great value for the money.

Conscience to events

The hotel is very nice, the staff was very professional and knowledgeable, next time I stay in Allentown I’m going to call the hotel directly to book a room. I will not go through hotel.com.

The room air conditioning was off and the room was already almost 80 degrees when we checked in and the temperature only went down TWO DEGREES the entire stay! iAnd furthermore, it was a 95 degree day and a heat wave! The room had hair on bathroom floor, water pressure was terrible. We ran out of toilet paper and Kleenex because there wasn’t much when we arrived. Bed too soft! Couldnt see out the windows!! Never stayed anywhere in the world where we could not look out the window! We would not stay there again, and we plan on going to lots of events at PPL, but we will stay at the Renaissance!

Carla the housekeeper kept a clean room, the front staff was friendly and helpful, the valet leaves something to be desired. They retrieved my car and parked it across the street and said you can cross the street to go get it...we had a cart full of bags so I said you are valet please bring it to this side of the street. Then when he gave me the car, he failed to give me my key fob. Luckily I realized it as we pulled away and we got our key fob. They need to train their valet employees.

Room was clean and excellent.

Soft mattresses

Old fashioned charme with wonderful staff and nice big rooms.

No Parking lot, have to pay extra for valet parking.

Great downtown location, with great cafes and restaurants within minutes walking. Clean large rooms with attentive staff in lobby. Grand hotel built in 1927, well renovated. Large windows with good city views.

Loved the classic hotel and I had a great corner room. Will stay there again the next time in town, I needed up parking on the streets because its convenient and much less than valet. Pretty unexceptional restaurant. Nothing looked interesting on the menu, and it looked very standard. I was intending on staying in the hotel because there was a restaurant on premise, but I ended up going out both nights looking for something more interesting. Also the restaurant closed pretty early 9:00. Other than that I loved the hotel. Also, however, there isn't ice machines on the floors that I could find.

A striking historic hotel set amid the otherwise blighted surroundings of downtown Allentown. The building itself has real character, and there is a good restaurant conveniently located across the street. Unfortunately, my fourth-floor room was shockingly loud. Throughout the night, the noise from modified cars and motorcycles racing up and down the street was constant, compounded by several late-night altercations involving drunks and homeless individuals outside. The lack of sound insulation and nonstop street noise made it extremely difficult to sleep and, quite frankly, ruined the stay for me.

The Front Desk Hostess was very helpful one morning when I came in from walking the dog out in the rain. We were both wet and I wanted a coffee but the Starbucks was closed. The Hostess went out of her way to find the Barista. The Barista then prepared a coffee for me to bring back to the room. ... All the help we met that weekend were kind, thoughtful and very professional. ... We will definitely be coming back.

The hotel was lovely, and the rooms were comfortable. Outside the hotel, for several hours a night, cars drove by with modified mufflers, revving their engines and playing loud, reverberating music. It was so disruptive to any sense of peace and quiet, especially between the hours of 10 PM and 2 AM. Really nice place, but will not return due to the street activity and noise.
