Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Athens by IHG

The room smelled like mildew and felt very damp. We were there for 3 nights visiting family and were too tired to find someone by evening when we got back to the hotel.

Nice clean room. AC to noisy

Lovely helpful staff. Clean although minor touch ups could help. Perfect air conditioner for texas summers. Located near everything you need.

The room had an odor with a wet smell of the carpet as soon as we entered the room that triggered my wife allergies. I was suppose to have a King Size bedroom. I had double beds. No phone in the room. No iron board. Tub was dirty. It was not a good experiences at all. I deserve a full refund.

The breakfast was good. More was expected for the price. The ice machine did not work, clean towels were not available and most front desk staff seemed to be unenthusiastic

When I checked in to my room the refrigerator had leaked water all over floor and into carpet and was not running. I called front desk and she offered to send up towels to clean up mess only. She said she could have maintenance look at it tomorrow. I told her I need ice to keep my insulin cold she offered to let me put it in their shared refrigerator down stairs but declined. I Went to get ice to keep my items cold and the ice machines were broke as well. I had booked room for two nights. Next day no call or visit from maintenance on repair of refrigerator or even switching refrigerators from another empty room was offered. At 3pm housekeeping walks into my room without knocking or even announcing them selves! Very disturbing.

Breakfast was excellent, great food options. All Staff were helpful and friendly.

Air Conditioning portable unit Room not completely Remodeled

Some of the best sleep I’ve had. Bed & pillows are so comfortable. 1 star away from a 5 only bc they’re were no clean towels available in the morning, only wash cloths & the rep said I also had to come get them, no room service to drop them off.

Front desk clerk was awesome. Breakfast needs a little more. No milk or juice available.

It is clear that they have put effort into remodeling the property recently, and everything from the lobby to the rooms looks very nice. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the room was very musty and the AC didn't seem to ever pull that smell and humidity out.

This is the best hotel in Athens, Texas. The room was clean, the breakfast was good. I made no use of any of the amenities and so scored it a 4.

Pleasant Surprise. Clean Hotel Friendly Staff

We needed a little ice in our cooler, and the ice machine was broken, but the front desk person was very helpful finding us and Ice My daughter’s room was very clean and smelled clean. Our room smelled a little bit musty, but was very clean.

Went out for the day , upon returning our door keys were not valid. Upon checking with staff, we were told the door keys were cancelled, and showed we checked out. They corrected the mistake, upon talking with an elderly night desk worker she kept saying the door key must have cancelled itself due to going through a magnetic scanner or by our cell phone. I tried to explain it was the front desk fault. And she repeated it had to be the cell phone contact with the door card. I will pass on how the hotel treats their customers.

Te room was clean, the building was fairly new, and food was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our time there.

The only problem was the ice machine was out of order.
