Comfort Inn Bloomington near University

I’m a big fan of more reasonably priced hotel chains such as Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, etc. but this hotel is in a different class. The carpets in the room must be 20 years old with stains to prove it. The sink and the bathtub drain didn’t work and the “front desk” staff at night seemed super grumpy and unhappy. The owners are clearly just milking this property for cash and overcharging on game day weekends. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Old and broken

The front desk staff, Jasmine, was very nice, but the room was filthy-- food in the drawers, stains on the walls and ceiling from water coming in-- carpet stains from water-- the smell was of mildew and unbearable. Truly grossest hotel I've ever stayed in. This was our first time booking with this hotel chain and presumably our last. And Expedia did contact the property and was totally blown off--the hotel did not even try to make it right--and they charged 4 times the normal going rate b/c it was parents' weekend. This hotel and the chain should be ashamed of itself. You couldn't pay me to stay here again.

The TV was tiny and didn't work hardly, syringe in the parking lot.

It was dirty, run down and gross. The staff was missing have the time or in the restroom for long periods of time. I highly discourage anyone from staying here for any major IU events. If it’s the only available option (as was the case for us and we paid $$$ for our room), I’d suggest commuting from Indianapolis would be better!

We were on the 2nd floor. The room was very dated and did not feel clean. I was afraid to walk on the carpet without my shoes on. The first 2 nights the AC worked but on the 3rd night it did not - they are having construction done on the outside of the property and the construction workers had completed wrapped in plastic the AC unit on the outside so it did not work. When we told the front desk about this, they just shrugged.

No one was at the front desk when we tried to check in for over 5 minutes. Our room had Cheetos crumbs still in the floor and the sink and the bathtub did not drain properly. The small tube of lotion was used and basically empty. We paid $500/night because it was IU parents weekend, but regardless of supply and demand they should never charge that. I will never stay there again.

Would not recommend. It was dirty. The bath tubs filled with water when you shower. It was the second time we stayed there and it was the same experience both times. There were people hanging out all afternoon and night in the parking lot. I was woken up to people fighting about a child. Very shady people hanging around the hotel at all hours of the day. We didn't feel safe at this hotel.

Location was good Over priced for the quality of the hotel. Very basic.

Breakfast was good & had a great variety of options. Pool was nice. The room smelled weird! Smelled like stale smoke and also had a musty smell to it. There were only 2 ice machines - one on the 2nd floor and one on the 3rd floor. The one on the 3rd floor was the only one that worked. The drain in my shower was plugged up, so water was not draining while I showered.

Put hold on your debit card & then dont release hold upon check-out.

There was mold around the AC unit, so we left. The guy at the front desk was understanding but couldn’t get us a refund due to his manager not being on shift.

Breakfast was late than the time they indicated and coffee was not being refilled Rooms not being maintained clean during my stay

The breakfast was self service, had a variety and was very good. The location was near a bus stop, which was convenient since I was nit driving At one stage the card wasn't working and there was no one at the reception. Otherwise all good

There were stains on the carpet in the room. The room and bathroom needed updating. Very dark, broken tiles in the shower, low water pressure, could hear conversations clearly next door. They charge a lot for busy weekends at the university, but the rooms do not reflect the price charged. There weren’t enough outlets to charge phones and laptops in the room. They don’t clean/tidy/replace towels daily, even after requested. The breakfast was good enough. It’s close to the IU stadium. There’s plenty of parking.
