The problem comes with the cleanliness and upkeep of the place. Our room was ready when we arrived by they forced us to wait until the dot of check-in time to access it. When we went inside our room, it was obvious the room had been sitting dormant for a while. Two wine glasses were sitting on the floor by a table with caked-on dried wine. On walks around the property, it was obvious some amenity locations were in need of refurbishment but they weren't high-use places so it didn't seem like the staff cared. Overall, you can't beat the location. At one time it was probably the crown jewel of Boothbay but they also appear to be resting on their laurels a bit. I would probably return, but with a bit lower expectations. You're booking it for the views and location.

Very nice location. First time at this place and it looked great on Booking. My wife and I had discussed that it could be a great place for an annual 4th of July trip. However, things did not go as planned. We had booked a stay at the property through booking in April, well in advance for the 4th of July weekend, but when we arrived at the property in the late evening of July 2nd after a long drive, they did not find our reservation, apparently due to the fact that the reservation was made before the hotel opened for the season. Obviously no equivalent room was available and the hotel only could offer a room in the attic (room 8) that according to the manager at the reception was one of the most popular ones but was actually one of the historic rooms that did not have anything in common with the one we had reserved (e.g. no balcony), was very old (‘historic’ as the manager put it) and clearly did not meet our expectation. It even had some pending maintenance work (e.g. door did not close properly). Clearly not appropriate for the approx. $700 / night we had paid including 10% Genius discount. The reaction of the manager on duty very poor as she immediately blamed Booking and her staff, then threatened to kick us off property (as she had incorrectly been briefed by her staff that we had refused to give our credit card which was not accurate, staff had forgotten to swipe it with all the confusion with our reservation). Instead of offering an apology for our inconvenience first, and then trying to find a solution, the manager was immediately defensive and very unfriendly. We were undertstandidly very disappointed and will not return to this hotel ever again as we will always associate it with the 2026 4th of July disaster! The reaction of the Booking Genius hotline was much more professional and they initiated a so-called disruption process and would have paid the cost difference at a different hotel.

A wonderful family retreat. Felt like stepping back in time in the best way. We look forward to returning!

Place was beautiful and super clean. We used a couple amenities while there. The pool and hot tub, which were both at water edge and the views were spectacular. Our balcony had awesome view of water and we took advantage of it many times. We love to go to dinner each night on water but wasn’t in the cards as we enjoy a couple cocktails while dining and without local transportation like Uber or Lyft it didn’t happen. Taxi service was sporadic after speaking with both services there. Shuttle to town stops at 5pm so no help, town is very small and charming, the hotel should offer local pickups and drop offs for guests.

But no information was given to us about the property ie where the pools were located

Check in was a little bumpy. Our room wasn’t ready until almost 5 (check in was 4:00) on the hottest day of the year and with no offer to have our kids change for the pool anywhere, they changed in the car. The girls at the desk were apathetic at best, but another woman who was there the second to me we went was at least trying to be empathetic to our situation. When we finally got to our room the AC unit started spitting water out onto the floor and the tv. Maintenance was there within 5 minutes and fixed it. Top ratings for the maintenance guy!

Location of property was great. Beautiful views and close to downtown Booth Bay. Lots of activities for families. Property was a bit run down in the outdoor areas..shuffle board, tennis courts etc.
-
Nice place to stay but rooms can use an upgrade. Remove rugs and upgrade television sets. Also resort fee is expensive especially during off season.
-
Excellent property with amazing views. You’re on the end of a Peninsula. It seems overlooking everything. I didn’t even mention that they have a bunch of activities for young and old.

Our room was ready for us as soon as we got there! The room was clean and it overlooked the water with chairs on the deck to enjoy it (and we did!) We were there for a wedding and unfortunately didn’t have enough time to enjoy the amenities. We are making a plan to return in the future to just have fun! Breathtaking views. 😎
