La Playa Hotel

Charming boutique hotel. Outstanding ambiance and service. Smaller, but beautifully decorated rooms. Breakfast service and food quality was excellent. The bar was cozy and inviting. Staff were courteous and friendly. One of our favorite hotel stays!

Our window was busted so our room was extremely cold And loud very very loud Our room backed up to street so people passing by car alarms yelling and the worst part was the wedding above us ! Dancing and yelling celebrating until late The food for breakfast was excellent and the location overall was superb except hard to park car

From a recent upgrade in 2023, we can tell our room was modern, shower pressure was amazing, and overall room was spacious (as it’s a pet friendly hotel). They even blessed us with salted caramels and the doggies with special treats. The La Playa Hotel has killer breakfasts items and the coffee is smooth like Sunday mornings. Area around the hotel was super safe. Reminded me of the 1950’s where you can walk every where without a care. Except for the hanging caterpillars that might secretly attack. If you do bring your pets, you have to do the Mad Dogs and Englishman e-bike with side car. We parked ours near the unloading zone and most of the guests said "Hello" to our doggies. Then travel along the Scenic Road and go with the flow. Overall, we loved everything about our stay!

The King room was extremely small—small doesn’t even begin to describe it. There was barely enough space to open one suitcase while still being able to move around the bed. It made getting ready in the morning or evening quite challenging for two people. On the positive side, the included breakfast was excellent. We didn’t use the pool because it was too windy during our stay, but the hotel’s location is fantastic—within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The complimentary car service was also a nice touch. Overall, the hotel is okay but nothing to write home about. If I return, I would request a larger room

Overall this is a good hotel in Carmel. It seemed a little pricey but they do have a free 1st class breakfast and free happy hour that is nice. The happy hour starts at 2 pm. Our room was a little small for the price but amenities were excellent.

Wonderful! Breakfast was awesome and we took advantage of the sangria happy hour as well as fresh baked cookies. Would definitely stay here again! Loved it!

Just amazing. Charming, top amenities and service, and included champagne brunch is truly excellent. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at.

Incredible property, luxurious but with historical character. Grounds are manicured, super cute pool, the morning brunch is actually delicious! Perfect location just off the Carmel Square. Will definitely be back!

Dark hotel lobby and small rooms. Coffee service stops at 7:30 am , which is ridiculous. TV not functional. No elevator so you have to lug luggage up to your room. Will never stay here again.

Room

Don’t stay in room 202. We’ve stayed at this hotel several times and can say this room let us down. It’s attached to bathrooms for the hotel on one wall and just above is the maid’s quarters so think thumping and dropping all day and night. This was our favorite hotel but this last stay was not good.

This is the most perfect hotel on the planet! You will love your stay. From the staff’s attentiveness, the amazing breakfast spread, comfortable bed, and fabulous property, you will feel like you’re in heaven.

Romms are very small for &1,300 per day. Noise is unbearable. Large wedding party without advising the prospective guests. Noise from other rooms is loud. Very late check in. Ocean views are very far and small.

Breakfast was gourmet and we did have beach view.
