Residence Inn by Marriott Chapel Hill

The bathtub was stained. The shower curtain had stains going down from top to bottom. The unused coffee packets were sticky for no apparent reason aside from uncleanliness. There was a sign to hang up towels if you want to reuse them and if towels were left on the floor and not hung up, they’d be replaced. Housekeeping never arrived to clean the room or replace our towels. At 6 pm we called the front desk and almost an hour later, they brought us clean towels. At checkout, I told the rep about the lack of housekeeping and she said housekeeping only comes every other day. I told her nobody told us that and if that’s the case, why have signs about towels not hung up would be replaced? The rep said my comment made sense and took some money off the bill. But over all, the room and bathroom were not clean enough for a Marriott property.

This hotel was very disappointing. The hallways and elevators were dirty and had a bad odor. The hallway carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed, and the hallways were uncomfortably hot. Our room was not clean either. The blanket had stains, the sink was dirty and clogged, and the couch was covered in stains. The entire hotel smelled like cigarette smoke mixed with spoiled food. The walls were extremely thin, so you could hear everything. I would not stay here again.

I liked the fact that the cleaning people came every other day. It was nice to have room cleaning service back, since covid you don't get this kind of service anymore at hotels. Your cleaning staff were fantastic! I had a great stay; everyone did a great job.

This is an excellent location to take advantage of all the Chapel Hill and Durham attractions

Great staff. Excellent restaurant. Very clean. Not a hotel for some wanting a pool, as they close it I think expect because of extended stay families staying there.
