Booked this room by mistake, after working all day and then driving 6 hrs straight to pick up grandsons. I was in Charleston, WV. I was trying to book rm in Charleston. Somehow cpu flipped to Charlottesville. I did not notice being so tired trying to book at midnight. Went to put in GPS so I could get to hotel and get some sleep. Showed 200 something miles. Immediately called hotel and asked for refund. Refused, stated needed waiver. Spoke with hotels.com rep and hotel regarding waiver so I could get refund, considering booking was mistake and over 200 miles out of my way and in wrong direction. End result--- Clarion refused to approve waiver and/or refund the accidental booking. Not satisfied. Poor business.

There was a thunderstorm early in the evening of the second night of our stay. The power was out at the hotel and surrounding area. When we returned to the hotel after our days activities, we found a building without power, and the hotel completely abandoned by the staff. It was a ghost town. We left, got dinner, and decided our options for the night. Upon returning, the power was still out, however, the front desk clerk had returned. I explained that we would have to find alternate accommodations for the evening, as my roommate has a sleep apnea machine, and can not spend the night in a room without power, for obvious medical reasons. The front desk clerk was understanding and after we collected our things from the room, informed us that she would leave a note for the manager explaining our situation. Regardless, the second night (in which we did not stay in the hotel), I was refused a refund. The power outage and associated medical issues were apparently of little concern to the property manager, and I was charged $110 for the night, despite having to find another hotel. Obviously, I would not recommend this hotel to others, nor would I ever stay there again. I will likely not stay at another hotel in this chain again.

Staff was friendly, check in was a breeze, breakfast was typical, and the price very reasonable. The liens could use updating some staining was present. Carpets need to be shampooed and fixtures updated. The stay was good overall for the price.

The check-in experience was excellent. Skip at the front desk was exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and professional. His warm hospitality set a very positive tone for my stay. Breakfast was also better than expected, with a good variety of options and quality that exceeded what I anticipated. Combined with the comfortable accommodations and attentive service, the hotel offered excellent value for money. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and I would gladly return in the future.

A septic system smell in the bathroom was a problem for us that maintenance couldn't fix. The hotel was full, so we had to put up with it.
