English Inn of Charlottesville

We booked this hotel for the pool something for the kids to do since they had been in the car so long. Also right back in it the next day. We get there and it’s a sign at the desk pool closed all week due to an inspection. This would have been nice to know before hand since there was no cancellations.

Very nice cookies and tea service in the afternoon… Great pricing and close to restaurants, UVA campus and the downtown mall!

It is a very nice hotel. We will stay there again when in C'ville. They have a 5PM tea time with fresh cookies which is a nice touch. The staff at the desk was very helpful. It is centrally located for easy access to restaurants and UVA.

Easy check-in, clean room, staff very helpful & the breakfast was excellent. We are already planning to return some time in the fall.

The room we were given at check in had dirty sheets. We were switched to a new room, which also had dirty sheets. They closed the pool for resurfacing with no warning which was why we chose this hotel. It smelled horrible in every area of the hotel.

Great location - tucked away in a quiet, relaxing setting, yet in close proximity to major routes and nearby residential streets.

The staff was very nice but the rooms were a little outdated.

Loved the daily afternoon tea and cookies. Who has dried orange and lemon slices, dried rose petals and jasmine buds to put in their tea?! The breakfasts were fantastic. Note-- the kitchenette has no silverware or dishes. The fridge is large, only benefit.

Convenient to central Charlottesville!

Room was clean, comfortable beds, good breakfast (included), building was in good shape, staff were friendly. Would stay again!

We did not use any of the amenities this trip as time was very stressed, but have used previously on other trips as we have stayed there several time. The breakfast is outstanding and the staff are always on top of the service.

We found the room and the entire property to be very aesthetically pleasing. The breakfast buffet was hot and tasted wonderful. The breakfast area was clean. The coffee was great. The only negative (and we really didn’t pay it much attention at all) was that the room air conditioner was loud. But it functioned perfectly and the room stayed cool. Which was far more important than the sound of it. The room was spacious. The water pressure was better than anywhere I have ever stayed. If we are back in Charlottesville we will be staying here again.

They did not have hair dryer and I forgot mine. Otherwise perfect quiet stay. Will be back

The unique architecture of the bldg inside & outside. Reminded us of when we lived in Germany.
