Holiday Inn Express Chelmsford by IHG

The pool has the most odd hours.. if you want to use it in the morning or day, it’s closed. They were only open for a couple hours in the evening when we’d be getting dinner. I literally only booked this place with the idea it had a pool to use during weekdays, so it was a disappointment for sure. Also the house keepers never tend to the rooms even when you’re there for a week and don’t have the DND sign on, you have to bring the used towels to the front desk and ask for fresh ones as they don’t upkeep during your stay.

Everything went well

Comfortable beds, good breakfast buffet. Staff at breakfast were fantastic! Kept all items replenished and area clean. Loved the huge lobby. Never a problem finding a place to sit and eat. Our room was not made up on our third day. We had no clean, dry towels. Very humid in room nothing would dry, bedding felt damp. Small dead bugs on window sill never cleaned. Room does not have a smart TV so you can’t watch Netflix etc. Nice warm pool, however, the handrail for entering the pool at the stairs was detached at the bottom.

No coffee maker in the room, but quite frankly the idea of having an individual coffee maker in every room is kind of insane when you think about it. The machines they have in the lobby grind the beans and make you a fresh brew in a couple minutes.

We liked this hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and had good breakfast choices including cheesy omelette, hard boiled eggs, cinnamon rolls, etc. We used the pool and the gym as well which were both clean.

Was perfect for a place to rest, while doing work at a storage unit near by. Complimentary breakfast was nice as well

The location is in a very busy area but it was convenient to the highway. Our room smelled musty and was on the same side of building backing up to the highway which was very loud. The breakfast was nice but the staff did not seem to keep up with refilling things and we had to ask even thought staff was standing nearby. The carpet in the halls looked dirty from carts rolling on it. The covered entry was in the back of the building which was strange. Although this was close to family we were visiting, I would not stay here again.

The breakfast was adequate. Coffee was wonderful. Wanted to go swimming, but the pool hours were very very restrictive. Makes no sense?

The hotel has laundry facilities on premises to do laundry, which is great. And the complimentary breakfast was very much appreciated.

I like that the place is quiet. The rooms were comfortable and the closeness of several different food options within walking distance. What I found irritating, the room I stayed in the usb outlets were out of place. It was really inconvenient that we’d couldn’t charge our equipment.

BREAKFAST IS ALWAYS FINE AT IHG HOTELS. EVERYTHING! COFFEE MAKERS REMOVED FROM ROOMS FOR "ENVIRONMENTAL" REASONS, ELEVATORS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, NO PAPER OR PLASTIC CUPS IN ROOMS, RUST AROUND BATH FIXTURES, RUST ON TUB, GRASS OUTSIDE NOT CUT, ELECTRICAL OUTLETS NOT STEADY. NEXT DOOR IS NEW HOME 2 SUITES BY SAME OWNER. NEW HOTEL GETS SERVICES, THIS ONE IS NOW SHABBY.
