Chalet Motel

The town was an easy walk away, with a few restaurants, shops, and bars. Mount Rushmore was only about 30 minutes away, making this a perfect little stay for seeing the sights. If you don’t appreciate older, charming motels, this probably isn’t the place for you—but honestly, that would be your loss!

Cute, quiet, & convenient.

Instead we got stuck in the back half of the little cabin. You couldnt enter wifi password. It was super hot and our space had no air conditioning. We had to have windows and doors open. Not even close to advertised. Dont stay here.

Michelle, owner and manager of the property was above and beyond helpful from checkin process to miscellaneous requests throughout the stay. The location is great, and the courtyard was very cozy and quiet. The chalets are well equipped but some may look a bit outdated and are tiny. The one I stayed in seemed like it was being smoked in.

The location in the town of Custer is very convenient.

Despite being a classic old "chalet" with mostly individual small "cottages", the room layouts were well done, and Michelle at the desk was so, so accommodating and helpful. Small rooms, thus the good price.... expected.

An older unique motel that has been well kept. A great place to stay if you want to skip the big hotels and enjoy a feel of the past.

Super clean and in a great location. The beds were very comfortable and we truly appreciated the grab n go breakfast in the morning. I would stay here again and again!!!!

This is a charming pet-friendly place to stay in Custer. An old-fashioned motel with individual "cabins" with everything you need-nothing fancy. They put out a grab and go breakfast of juices, yogurts, and muffins. The staff is great-friendly and helpful. Felt very welcome and safe. Right on the main road in Custer. Easy to walk to shops and restaurants. A great value for the price!

Nice little room with a kitchenette. Great location near downtown Custer. Breakfast was just fair and served late (7:30).

A bit outdated rooms but it goes with the flow of and look of the space.

Cozy, pretty flowers hanging outside the door. Rustic mismatched furniture that I liked. Quiet. Clean. The refrigerator froze everything including milk, yogurt and peaches. I set it on low, but things still froze. I just thawed everything and used it anyway.

We love staying at the Chalet, our 6th year in a row. Michele the owner is very accommodating and takes care of any needs. This charm was built in the 1930’s, small but clean and very well located.

You might feel a bit cramped in the bathroom but, I’d stay here again. Location was wonderful and the owner was more than helpful. Grab and go breakfast, muffins or fresh fruit. I think she had more stuff too. Oh bottled juice. Loved it.

So adorable! Super clean! The beds were so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! There was nothing we didn’t like. The bathroom is tiny but so clean and meets all your needs!
