Best hotel from my trip Washer not working

I was moved twice due to bed bugs. I ended up having to leave a day early. Definitely not ever staying at this property again.

Staff was really friendly, room was more than adequate for a quick overnight stay, parking felt safe and I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast! Prime location for UC Davis events and even shows in Midtown Sac area! Highly recommended!

Clean and updated. The walls are paper thin. I could hear my neighbor watching the news through the wall. Also, train with a horn?? Better windows would prevent how I could easily hear it.

Have stayed in Davis many times at various other hotel locations over the past 3-1/2 years in the fall and summer months moving our UCD student back and forth. Sadly this ranks as our lowest overall experience. It seemed to start off great by a very friendly female staff member who checked us in. The cleaning staff were also friendly and provided us with any requested items ie. Extra tissue, etc. The disappointing aspects were:1) The room was either stuffy/hot or freezing. The temp gauge seemed to be malfunctioning so we struggled to get it to a comfortable temp ie. 74 degrees. When the AC unit would finally come on it blasted oddly frigid. It was also loud & racket 2) Only eggs available were cold prepackaged boiled eggs for breakfast, Otherwise all sweets including waffles machine. We came down at 8:50 (9:00 am was the end time) and were going to settle for waffles, but the gal already had the waffle machine shut off and said "no more waffles." 3) There was a huge pile of what seemed to be human crap at the side entry to the hotel which when we left. Came back about 3-4 hrs later and it was still there. 4) Ice machine was only on the bottom floor. Something I might not normally bring up but on top of everything else, it just added salt to wound.

Outdoor pool was full of leaves and no one clean it for a few days so I could not swim and hot tub was green like pond, so obviously it can’t be used either. In general I liked my stay, bed sheets were clean and towels too, but they could do better.

The good — the personnel were very friendly and accommodating. They were great! The room was very clean and obviously recently painted. The linens and towels were very clean. The air conditioner was very effective, although it sounded like a plane taking off when it clicked on. The NOT good — the common areas are badly in need of updates. The carpets are old and worn, the hallways dingy, dank and dark. Lighting is poor. The room furniture was broken and badly worn, the telephone in the room was not working. Amenities are minimal - a bar of soap and small tubes of shampoo and rinse. No shower gel, no lotion, no niceties. Additionally, early check-in, if the room was available, carried a $25 charge, even if the room was already cleaned and empty. Why? (I note that after protesting the hotel clerk agreed this was unreasonable and waived that.) Late check-out, if available, was $30 for just one hour, noon vs 11am, whereas nicer hotels do not charge for this. It was like airlines adding charges for everything that used to be included in the price of a ticket. This is what travel has come to.
