The hotel is beautiful and the guest rooms are spotless. The guest room has a modern feel but still embraces the historical feel of the building. The bar is top notch. Every staff member we we dealt with was professional and courteous. Love this place and will return again.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. Very noisy lobby and cramped elevators. It is a historic building, so the elevators I can understand.

A unique property over 100 years old, with a lot of character and nicely updated. Location in the heart of downtown Des Moines with easy walking access to many of the city's top restaurants. I had breakfast twice in the Hobknob Cafe in the hotel. The portions were generous but everything was a little on the sweet side, which may not be unusual for the Midwest. Also, they could do more with the impressive two-story lobby. It's very lifeless and could be much more of a feature and a gathering place.

This was one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at. The staff was so helpful and accommodating. The room was crisp and clean. The restaurants and bars were lively and well priced. We will definitely be returning.
