Holiday Inn Express Dumfries by IHG

I almost exclusively stay at the Holiday Inn chains when traveling inter-city. This particular one was one of the worser ones I’ve stayed at. Not sure if it’s because we stayed during the Fourth of July weekend but service was terrible. We didn’t have our room cleaned not one day. We called front desk, would request when leaving the room for the day, even kept the DND off the door. Nothing. Front desk super unhelpful and didn’t care. Also same breakfast every single morning. Other Holiday Inns at least tries to change up 1-2 items a day. One of the elevators the elevator buttons for Floor 2 doesn’t work and there was no sign. Also why is the pool outside ?! So you can swim with bugs and rainwater, no thank you.

I really liked this hotel because it is one of the best in Dumfries but today I didn't like it, the room had a bad smell like wet towels, it seems that with the dirty towels they cleaned because the bathroom had a bad smell, the beds were dirty with hairs, I didn't call to have them changed because it was already late when I arrived at the hotel, but they need to be more careful with the cleaning, this hotel is not very old but it is neglected

The room was very clean, the staff were all mostly pleasant, we didn’t have breakfast because of other arrangements. I couldn’t figure out how to make the A/C function properly, but I should have asked for assistance.

Unfortunately this was not the best experience. Towels had hairs embedded in them. When we went to exchange them at the front desk, they were about to give us towels with longer hairs. At least the employee caught it and went back for a third try. The tub had some mold. The food had no flavor. And breakfast started at 7. We had a tournament one of the days and had to leave before 7 so we didn’t even get to eat one of the days. One elevator broke. Only one luggage cart available. We ended up having to make 3 trips just to get all our stuff out. First and last time we go to a Holiday Inn.

I know this would increase the cost of our stay: the dining experience would improve dramatically by having real utensils and plates.

I have stayed here several times and always have a good experience. The beds are comfortable, the temperature in the room is good whether A/C or heat, and the front desk staff is helpful. The readily available hot water for tea and hot chocolate is great. The only thing that might be improved is the included breakfast. The pancakes and cinnamon rolls are good but the eggs don't taste like real eggs and the milk tasted like it was spoiled.

It was a good experience for us.

The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, the free breakfast was delicious and they had plenty of choices, the staff was friendly and had good customer service, very good experience.

My stay was great but it's been 5 day's and I haven't received my 100 dollar deposit back.

Breakfast menu was fresh but limited options. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly.

Quiet and good location I booked thru booking.com for $120 and yet my card was charged for $220! I’m not happy about that!
