Fenway Hotel Autograph Collection

A quick getaway to this lovely 100 year old hotel. The place is immaculate…not even any ‘old’ smells. The beds are wonderful and the bathrooms are all updated for a very nice experience. Located on the water with a rooftop bar is really fun. Fine dining available and don’t miss out of their amazing French toast at breakfast.

I had breakfast three times during my stay and dinner once. Everytime was pleasant and delicious. I loved the staff ( waitress Sidney). Wonderful new attack on old standards.

All issues aside: 1. This property is a converted dorm building, so the rooms/bathrooms/showers are tiny and like going back in time to college. 2. The weight room is fairly low quality (condition-wise) relative to other Autograph Collection properties. 3. Pictures of the property are deceptive and make it look like there’s a waterfront view, which isn’t the case. The water is blocked by thick tree cover and brush and can’t be viewed unless you’re elevated on the roof (which we didn’t get to enjoy because it was being prepared for a wedding party). 75%+ of the rooms here are most likely going to get a view of a parking lot with no water in sight. 4. The restaurant/bar/lobby have a very cool history with Prohibition-era exhibits, so the property does have great character and history with a musical theme. 5. The restaurant and bar have live music most nights in the lobby, and the older, retired community enjoys coming to the hotel to enjoy one of what seemed like very few nightlife attractions in the area. 6. Most guests stay for 1–2 days traveling for work, and I don’t suggest staying here if coming from out of town for a vacation. This is not a vacation-stay property. 7. The property is 3 minutes from an underprivileged part of town, which you see if you come over the bridge to the south.

We prepaid through Hotels.com for a King Room with a View. I contacted the hotel multiple times beforehand requesting early check-in, and I completely understand that early check-in is not guaranteed. When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready, so the front desk offered to downgrade us to an available Standard King. We accepted, but were given a basic room directly across from the elevators—quite a downgrade from the view room we had paid for. The bigger issue is that we were still charged the higher rate for the room we originally booked. The hotel even provided a receipt reflecting the lower room/rate, yet refused to adjust the charge when Hotels.com contacted them. Had we been told, “You can take the Standard King now, but you’ll still pay the full price for the King with a View,” we simply would have waited for our original room. That was never explained. To top it off, the food was extremely mediocre and very expensive for the quality. For an upscale Marriott property, the communication, customer service, accommodations, and food were incredibly disappointing. We will not be returning.

The hotel was great. Clean, friendly staff, nice pool, and close enough to downtown to walk.

Stayed over the 4th of July weekend and loved it! Exceptionally clean!! Clean and refreshing pool. Super friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views and loved the whole vibe!

Staff at valet parking and front desk were amazing! Roof top bar - horrible service until complained after waiting over an hour for a second drink which had to go to bar to order and the menu is very minimal. Cooked in same kitchen as steak house so could certainly be expanded. Rooms need at least 1 chair . No place to sit but ample room for 2 chairs. Even a bistro table and chairs! Charge for parking seems like price gouging since have to valet. Other hotels in same price point ($400 plus) are much better managed and rooms more “useable”. Would not return
