Historic Strater Hotel

I loved the building itself. Its old, and historic. The room was incredibly small. It was hard to open our 3 suitcases at the same time. The beds were the worst! So hard and bouncy. My husband could not sleep at all and we had to leave early in the morning because of it. I think if they changed the beds, everything else is workable.

Historically decorated hotel with a small clean room and nice bathroom with small shower area. Excellent cooperative staffs. In the heart of downtown. Have a restaurant inside and designated parking nearby.

Between the prime Main Avenue location—just blocks from the train depot—and the unforgettable decor and nightlife, staying here was a highlight of the trip. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Durango!

It was great except for the night we came in and the room had not been serviced. Of course housekeeping was gone so we were brought up some towels from staff but would have preferred the room made up as our door hanger requested.

Great location and beautiful historic hotel with so much interesting memorabilia. Unfortunately, our checkin lady wasn’t very helpful and didn’t tell us there were tours of the hotel to learn the history —would have enjoyed that. Rooms are plenty big for an old hotel and cutely decorated. Fun bar in the Belle. And be prepared for nighttime noise from revelers outside!

Bathrooms are small, but that was expected.

Liked that it was decorated in the Victorian area! Loved your room was clean! Exploded the hotel. Will stay here again when passing thru!

Historic hotel was awesome!

Fun historic hotel. Loved the little journal in the room. The furniture was beautiful. So many things right! Our tub could use some new caulking to look clean. Our windows looked out on a roof/fire escape. I think it should be a clean area since that is what our view is - there was trash/cups etc laying there. Love the history in each room. Great fries /onion rings! I did have to ask our server to clean the ketchup bottle which he did without an issue! Overall a great stay! Loved the saloon and the Office. Thank you!

Great historical hotel

The hotel has surely a wonderful history. It was interesting to learn about it as part of the town’s history. The hotel itself certainly needs a serious facelift - the drainage was quite bad in both bathtub as well as the sink. NO refrigerator in rooms. Mattresses were fine. Short, I believe $300/night was a bit excessive

The building is a museum so do take that into consideration.

It’s really a period-piece hotel and that’s the big part of its charm. But with this charm comes limitations. The rooms are tiny, and the bathrooms are problematic. But it is clean, the restaurant is nice, the decor is authentic, and the location is perfect for the downtown area. I’ll probably check elsewhere if I visit again, but I’m glad I did it once.
