Faraway Martha's Vineyard

I enjoyed my stay in the Chappy House – Room 409, a suite with its on entrance from the outside. It was very well appointed and similar to a spacious one bedroom apartment without the kitchen. Must be capable of maneuvering stone pathways and steps to access it. Very nice for a long-term stay. I’d be interested in purchasing one! (Luxury vinyl plank flooring needs repairing in one hallway spot — barely noticeable.) 🙂

Common spaces like the lobby and the pool were excellent, but those are the only good things to say about this property. Our room (104) was dark and had no privacy. There are no chests of drawers to put away clothes (they put bar glasses in them), the fixtures in the bathroom are loose and rusty and covered with water spots. There were stains on the carpet, which felt dirty, and a crack in the bathroom ceiling. The safe was too small for a standard laptop so good luck with that. There was no real hospitality to speak of as most of the time the people at the front desk do not even look up from their phones or desks to greet you when you walk by. We felt like this was a massive waste of money. On top of it all, they charged me $197 after I had left and when I called to ask what for they never answer or return messages. Never again.

We LOVED our stay at Faraway - the pool was amazing, staff was super helpful. They had a very convenient messaging system for requests. The staff recommended the Pelican Club for dinner, which is basically right on-site, but we tried to get in multiple times and there was always a wait! The food at their snack bar was really good for lunch. The location was incredible - it was our first time in Martha's Vineyard and we feel we got so spoiled!!

We came here on our anniversary and could not have picked a better place. The boutique-yet-full-service hotel is elegant and beautiful, with great taste everywhere and amazing ocean views. The heated (perfect temperature) pool and jacuzzi were a perfect spot to take a break at any time in the day, with relaxing and happy lounge music. Most importantly, the staff is highly well trained, educated, and devoted to service with a smile without the attitude sometimes found in premium hotels sometimes. Mattia (spelling?), Duna, Julian were amazing. Coffee in the room a great plus! Short walk from the ferry (3 minutes!) and in the center of the action makes this hard to beat. I would only add more obvious breakfast choices (most guests just go out to great options short walks away) to make this even more perfect. We will certainly be back.

The pool was also a great place to relax. It has a bar, and the pool attendant was very attentive and made sure guests had everything they needed. The staff overall were friendly, welcoming, and wonderful throughout our stay. We had a great experience and would definitely stay here again!

Bar workers were incredibly sweet. Any issues were clarified and worked out swiftly with the staff. Great stay!

Quiet stay. Beautiful property. Will be back

The pool was nice. Our room had many issues. First, the air conditioner never worked, and we complained to the front staff, and they never fixed it. Second, there was a leak in our bathroom coming from the upstairs room. A super came and took a look at it and then never cleaned up in our room. Our electricity went out all of a sudden. The super did come after reminding the front staff. Our phone never worked. Our TV was not even connected to cable or the internet so that we could play our own streaming content. Would not stay here again

- Check in took 3 hours for our room to be ready even though they told us that the room was already cleaned and just needed to be inspected - Cleanliness at the pool was hit or miss, some days there would be people cleaning up old glasses and towels left behind, other days it was a mess - No elevator which wasn't an issue to us though we did have to carry our bags up three flights of stairs because they were short staffed - Our door never fully closed on it's own so we had to remember to slam it each time - No coffee in room which is fine but to not offer a decaf option or non-milk based creamers didn't exactly line up with their luxury aesthetic - Couldn't get hot water in our room, luke warm at best, chalked it up to old pipes in an old building - Be cautious if you stay in a room facing the Pelican club as they play loud music up to 11 p.m.

Fantastic location in Edgartown and a true top notch boutique hotel experience. highly recommend!

The property is absolutely beautiful and the location is terrific. I really wanted to give this place a 5/5. But for some reason my room didn’t have heat (it was cold when I arrived!), the heater/AC unit wasn’t working and instead of relocating me (which maybe they couldn’t do?) I was given a space heater (and an apology from the front desk staff who explained that the heater was previously out of order). But for the price to stay at this place I don’t think that’s acceptable— even at a 3 star you’d be moved to another room. One other very minor thing— no room service at the property.

A lovely property. Centrally located, spacious room, gorgeous pool area. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

We had a very nice stay at Faraway and enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The common areas were well maintained and clean. Staff was all lovely. Parking can be tricky in Edgartown so take a cab if you can but they do provide overflow lots.

Loved Faraway in Martha’s Vineyard. Highly recommend it. Will be going back.
