Maverick Hotel Eugene Near University, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Location to UO is perfect. Breakfast was great. Staff was lovely. Easy parking. Starbucks right Nextdoor. We stayed in back building by the parking lot. It looks nice but smells & feels old and run down. Gave us old dorm or old motel vibes. Room itself looked nice but again had an older motel feel to it. I’m 5’4” and the shower head hit the top of my head. Showering for my 6’ son was interesting.

Staff were really friendly and room was nice and really clean! Will definitely stay here again! Great location.

Received an email after we stayed - “how was the breakfast?” What breakfast? We were not told, shown, anything about breakfast when we checked in. Stayed in the “annex” building. AC unit terrible, the room smelled of mold, despite signing up for room cleaning every day - got it once. Only two towels each time, so by day 3 could have used fresh towels. We paid over $400 a night which is insane. Tried getting some help from front desk and got lectured about leaving garbage from move in when we hauled everything to campus, so wasn’t sure what that was about? Tried getting help from Hotels.com - zero assistance. All around terrible experience. For that kind of money I would look elsewhere. Very poor experience.

Dog treats were a nice touch

They have an incredibly friendly staff, huge, clean rooms and of course there’s a fun s’mores happy hour. We didn’t try the breakfast because we had to leave, but we noticed that several people did enjoy it and it looked fresh with plenty of choices. When we’re back for any ducks games we are definitely staying at the maverick again!

When we arrived the room they had us check into was not clean and was full of pizza boxes front the previous guest. Not a big deal and fixed quickly. But the next morning we awakened but the sound of power saws and sledgehammers a few feet away from our room at 7:30am. It continued nonstop until our checkout. Around 10 the construction and banging moved to directly above our heads. We chose this place because of a late checkout and barely got any sleep. The bed was comfortable though.

Exceptional

The location is unbeatable for shows at the Matthew Knight arena! We also appreciated having two sinks (one in the separate toilet/shower area and one at a separate vanity station. We were very disappointed to be woken up by exceptionally loud construction work (including saws and metal on metal) RIGHT OUTSIDE our window, from about 7am through until we checked out. We certainly understand projects and repair work are necessary sometimes, but it's unacceptable to do it on a shared wall, right outside the window, while paying guests are sleeping.

Great location, close to campus and a nice riverwalk into town. Breakfast was just okay. Coffee was very good, but breakfast offerings were very basic.

Close to arena for concert

This hotel was nice and the staff was awesome. My issue came with my room — I was put in an accessible unit which was no issue but the mold above the shower on the ceiling made me feel uncomfortable. I did alert the staff and they were extremely nice about it, but reflecting on the photos I took I find it hard to believe that much mold could go unnoticed. I also had a hard time sleeping because the people above me were walking around super loud until midnight— I don’t fault the hotel for that but it definitely didn’t make my experience the best ever. I think I would stay here again only if I was not in a room with mold. Bed was great, breakfast was great, and the room was otherwise clean.

Bad

There was a hair in the bed which grossed me out and the floor was sticky in some areas. What I ended up paying at the property was about $40 more than what Expedia said it would be with no explanation... The shower is so low that I had to duck to wash my hair, and I am not that tall (5'8")... I don't think I will stay here again...

Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

Superb

Great price, felt good, nothing special or over the top. CC incidentals were only $3 which was great!

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very nice. I loved the coffee but especially loved that check-out was at noon.
