La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Galveston West Seawall

The lobby area was a bit weird. I saw remements of drywall in a side area off from the check in desk and also noticed plastic covering the bar area - thinking it was new. I asked how long has the hotel been opened and they stated it has been open for 5 years now. I asked why the bar is not open and they said it never has been open. I asked about the drywall panels in the off area and why the bar was not open and the lady could not give me an answer. My family really would have loved to had a glass of wine after dinner and nothing is really close by to the hotel. It was a bit disappointing on that part. The Hotel is clean but our TV was not working well . It was not the correct size TV and the colors only showed purple & Green. The hotel is not NOT on the seawall. It is behind another hotel and you have to walk up a hill just to get to the very busy street and there is no crosswalk from that section and makes it difficult to cross it.

We enjoyed our stay. Though, when we woke up we saw a huge cockroach in the bathroom. But the beds were comfy.

Breakfast was exactly the same every morning with very limited choices, so it got repetitive after a couple of days. Whenever we called the front desk from our room, no one answered, which was very frustrating. Checking out was just as disappointing. There was no one at the front desk. We found a note telling us to drop our room keys in a box and that our receipt would be emailed to us. After we got home, we never received the email. I called the hotel at least 10 times, and no one answered. After a long wait, I finally reached someone. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had. We expected much better and would not stay here again.

The hotel is clean. Rooms are clean. Beds were fine. It’s behind another hotel so not on the beach exactly. You can walk to the beach but if you have kids it’s a long walk and uphill. It was really hot and the parking lot smelled like garbage due to there being dumpsters close. Nothing that can be done about that but it smelled. Not really “on the beach.” It is close though.

The location, swimming pool was great, the towels in the swimming deck . Breakfast was good, and the seating was comfortable. I would stay there again. We had to go to the front desk for towels. Overall it was a good stay.

We rented for 3 days. Upon arrival, the attendant informed me that there is no room service. If I need clean towels I have to come down and get clean towels and I have to change out my trash. When I proceeded to go to my room the hotel started to have this mildew smell and it was getting stronger. As I entered my room it was really bad. Bathroom ceiling had mildew mold. Seems like they just paint over the mold. No soap. We had to take the bottle to get it refilled. I asked hotel for a refund because we were leaving a day before. My grandson started coughing cause of the mold in the room but they refused to refund. I would not recommend this place to no one. We paid $110 a day but it was not worth us breathing mildew mold. I felt hike all they cared was $. Not customer service being La Quinta usually they have a better reputation and that’s why I booked it, but I guess I was wrong. I still don’t understand how they’re still in business.

Not as great as it used to be. Needs some updating. We liked the convenient location but disappointed in upkeep.

The pool was nice and the breakfast was good. Unfortunately that was the only good thing. The mildew smell was horrible and the air conditioner was so loud it kept us up at night. I would never stay at this hotel again!!
