We stayed one night in room 506. The location is good with decent eating options within walking distance. That's the only nice thing I can say about it. We upgraded to a room that was supposed to have a seating area. It had a small sofa in a very weird location. There was no place to put our clothes so thankfully, we were only there for one night. World's tiniest dorm refrigerator with no icebox and if you want ice, you have to call down to the front desk for it and I'll bring you a bag. A ton of road noise and sirens. The worst part though was the room was incredibly hot and we could not get it cooled down. When we turned on the AC it made a terrible racket. I actually took a video of the room that captured the noise. Feel free to play that and listen. The room was just cramped, oddly laid out and not at all comfortable. It's a quirky boutique hotel with zero amenities.

The Esquire has a boutique style and beautiful. The room was clean and very modern and elegant with chandeliers.

They took excellent care of us! It’s a great hotel in the middle of a growing city- clean, friendly, enough space, and great staff at front desk and at the bar!

Nice clean quaint hotel.

The Esquire is a true hidden gem in Gastonia. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed - albeit small. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooftop is an amazing space offering incredible views from all angles with spectacular sunsets. It’s a great semi-private place to unwind and enjoy drinks with friends. Barristers, the on-site bar and restaurant, is no to be missed. In my humble opinion, the creative farm to table cuisine they serve is the very best in the area.

Great place to stay. Unique and lovely!!

While the bar is beautiful and grand, the rooms were extremely small and cramped. The first room we looked at was unbearably small, with frosted windows that could not be opened. I went back to the front desk to ask for a larger room, and indicated I would willingly pay more a larger room. The host offered a "larger" room as complementary upgrade. The next room was slightly larger, still difficult to turn around in, but I couldn't go back to the front desk again. This is with a bed that was a double bed, not a queen. We stayed 2 nights, but the second night we were so uncomfortable, on the second night, we never got to sleep and at 4 am we gave up and left the property to drive home.

Staff was very friendly

Historical building with small rooms but nice and clean. Very comfortable would definitely stay again.

After I checked in, I went to my room. The HVAC system was so loud I could barely hear myself think. When I went downstairs to ask for another room, the clerk told me there were no other rooms and that, anyway, all the rooms had a noisy HVAC system. I checked out and went to another hotel after requesting a refund. The hotel manager is "investigating" and I am waiting to hear if they will give me my refund.

Room was crazy small and HVAC crazy noisy. I was also instantly accosted by a middle aged homeless man on a bike upon arrival, so that was nice too.
-
The room was small and it was awkward to unload my car in the parking lot but the service made up the inconveniences.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant served great food. The room itself looked nice with a view from the 5th floor. And the roof top sitting area was nice. Overall my stay was 10/10 definitely would recommend.

Location , cleanliness Small room

Very cool place, love how they kept a lot of the old bank/legal building features. Thoroughly enjoyed the bar and restaurant, and the room itself was quite a nice surprise! Large and nicely decorated, with huge windows and equally impressive blackout curtains! Extremely hot outside that day, and the AC had a bit of trouble keeping up. Could’ve used a fan. But that’s not really the hotel‘s fault! The service in the bar and at the front desk were both very friendly and made the stay quite enjoyable!

Location Room was extremely small, pictures were definitely deceiving. The elevators and hallways were hot, seems like the air may have been out. The sink in the bathroom had a leak so the floor flood late at night.
-
There is some kind of high pitch noise outside, which goes on all night long. So, even though the bed was was comfortable, it was hard to get a good night sleep. We will not stay here again.
