Very quite considering the bar was downstairs Clean and simple

From the start we had some hiccups. There is no front desk, no one working on site. Check in was through text which wasn’t sent when called the number the bar offered us it was an AI person which roughly took us 30 mins standing in the sun outside the locked front door. Once in the room was cute, nice with a wet bar too. The bathroom door slammed shut which left it smelling musty and poopy inside. We went to dinner enjoyed a concert and walked back to the end of our night. Once ready for bed 11:30 or so the lights wouldn’t turn off, all 9 can ceiling lights on. We tried everything, we both tried, thinking user error. After multiple phone calls, being told someone is working on it and we will be called right back. We called 4 times in total and were hung up on twice after the helpful suggestion of did you press the light switch. We ended up leaving at 1am to dribble home 3 hours in extreme frustration. Still no result or helpful responses from management even through multiple tries. Hate it here zero stars

I booked the hotel based on the photos - liked the decor - and the fact it is located downtown. I named the hotel "the robot hotel", because there are no humans present, no front desk, etc. You do everything digitally, and use your phone to register, open all doors - in/out/room, and text or call for any needed assistance. I'm not gonna lie, I was annoyed that there are no luggage carts and there are steps to get into the property. I was already assigned to a room, first floor, which I hate - although it was a good thing as I had a large bag (two week trip to different temperature areas), and there is no elevator to the second floor. My in-room safe did not work, and I wasted time on the phone with the customer service person before giving that up. There is no ice machine, although they do leave a small bag of ice in the fridge at check in. The Melrose is cute, clean, hip, well -located, there is a fun outdoor patio area, a bar attached, and there is parking in a pay lot next door. Truthfully, it was a fun experiment, but give me a human on site.

Which ever algorithm is involved assumes you have a fully charged I phone an internet connection daylight and proficiency in taking images of yourself and your passport. We only got wi fi access from asking the nice helpful cleaner. There are no staff .The ‘bar’ was in darkness and unmanned. Stay here at your peril! The actual hotel is beautifull but they have redefined the term customer service (NOT)

Great if you don't mind a no contact check in, smaller rooms but in a great area Grand Junction within walking distance of a lot. Really great rooms that feel much different than your typical corporate chain hotel. Sadly I was not able to visit the attached cocktail lounge that looked excellent.

Clean quiet comfortable. You go you stay you like.

Excellent experience at The Melrose. Love the design, the bed was super comfy, the amenities are top notch and it’s right next to everything downtown.
-
Clean and updated No personnel onsite , everything went fine but I have never had a ‘no personnel’ experience

Great downtown location, easy electronic check-in process, fun bar, nice room, comfortable bed… They should provide parking. It was a little stressful thinking we had to get up and feed the meter before 8am.

Beautifully redone historic building with very comfortable rooms. We really enjoyed our brief stay here!

Loved the check in process and keyless entry. Close to downtown — great to walk around. Room was comfortable and AC was the quietest (and effective) from any hotel AC unit we’ve come across. Great decor. Had to pay for parking- but it was super convenient.

The property is a vibe. The decor is amazing and the location was perfect if you’re looking to spend some time exploring downtown. Beds were also very comfy. Parking is a bit of a pain. It requires you to park in public pay-to-park lots. Luckily they’re all fairly close by and I didn’t have a ton of luggage. The stairs are also a tad small inside so carrying two bags and a backpack was an adventure. I also wasn’t a fan of the digital check in process and lack of front desk people to approach with questions. It felt impersonal to have to send a text off when I had questions and the delay made it seem like you weren’t much of a priority. Additionally, with respect to this being a historic property, the room felt small. A deluxe king suite was the size of a standard hotel room and the shower was about the same size as something you’d find in a camper (although the decor was still amazing in the bathroom). There was also no real chair in the room so eating was a bit of a process when I had something delivered to my room.

All hotels need to verify the identity of who's staying there, which is reasonable. You show them your driver's license or passport, they look at it, then you put it back in your wallet or purse. But, at The Hotel Melrose, they keep a photo of it and a photo of yourself. It's beyond intrusive - it's literally exposing yourself to identity theft. They are literally storing your key personal identifiable information - and your personal photo - with non way to prove any safeguards, plus they can't tell you how long they'll keep it, what they can use it for, or who will have access it to it - remember, they can't tell you how long they will keep it, which is very scary. This is the most basic identity-theft risk (and easiest to pull off) and AI make it easier than ever. When will companies learn that we live in a world where personal info must be safe-guarded more than ever? Oh, and there's no one on-site - you have to text someone off-site if you need something. The rooms have no chairs. Take a look at the crappy furniture in the pic. It's cheap Ikea furniture with bubbled surfaces. More on the identity risks: Biometric identification isn't the future, it's now. Your photos could potentially be used to create AI-generated images, videos, or deepfakes of you. Some companies retain identity documents and biometric data for years, increasing your risk. Small companies almost always have weaker security, privacy controls, and oversight. Your data may be shared with third-party vendors or service providers. You may have limited ability to verify whether your data was actually deleted. Keep in mind that identity theft can take years to fix.

Would recommend checking in prior to arriving as it is self check in and after a long day of driving, sitting at the locked front door trying to figure out the digital key was not ideal. The bar was closed and there is no pool or other amenities so I would recommend stying up the street at the more known hotels. They had pools and bars. Our room was in front of a side door that slammed behind anyone walking in or out and since there is no staff to ask for a room change, we had to deal with it. The room felt too small for a couple with luggage and so we couldn’t get ready comfortably in the morning. The decor was nice but not worth saying there.
