American Inn Grover Beach

This hotel was very noisy. There were men in the parking lot drinking and talking loudly and people above us making a lot of noise. It sounded like children jumping and running constantly. The manager tried to accommodate us with a room above us but it was next to the noisy people. He offered to move someone else and give us their room but we didn’t want to put anyone else out. We appreciate that he tried to help, but in the end we left and drove home that night.

Everything was ok nothing to write home about, the one thing that made me feel a bit unsteady was that one of the employees kept looking at us from outside at the parking lot,but other than that nothing else happened

Parking area small we had to make sure we came back on time to get a parking, walls are thin u can hear them walking, I ask for receipt they said no cause I paid online,

Everything we expected from a small size hotel was definitely exceeded. 3rd time staying here and will be back again. I kept all my heavy belongings in the back of my pickup and everything was safe thank you fpr keeping a professional establishment

Check in was quick and easy and the guy was friendly and helpful. The room was clean with free wifi, A/C, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and blow dryer, but it could use some TLC. There was about a 1" gap at the bottom of the door which required a couple of towels to block, but we saw no bugs anyway. The bed wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. We had an ADA room (we didn't require one, but I guess it was all they had) so the bathroom was a little bigger and the shower was at floor level with a removable bench. Water pressure was weak and there is no counter in the bathroom, just a sink below the window. There is also no fan in there so you have to open the window to clear the steam unless you like it humid in your room. There were no paper cups for the coffee, just plastic bathroom cups, but they worked. Parking is very tight. If you are towing, you'll have to find street parking, and there isn't much of that, but it's free! It's close to food and gas.

DONT STAY HERE. He is up to no good and all he cares about is $$$.First of all he said I can get an earlier check in time which we decided was 2 pm without the extra $20. Well I got there at 1:15 and he said there were no rooms available. BTW there were 2 cars in the parking lot. I asked him what time I can check in and he said 3 pm. After paying the extra $20 to check in early, there on my bed was a big stain on the white sheet. I politely asked him for another room or a clean sheet and he went ballistic. I should have beat him up right then and there but I didn’t. Then he said all the sheets are like that from the bleach. After complaining and some harsh words he ripped the sheet off of my bed almost hitting me then stormed back with a new sheet and threw it on my bed. Again, I should have roughed him up but what would I have gained from that. He is the kind of guy who would call the cops on me. After all this I seen him marching up and down the hallways upstairs and downstairs at all hours of the night looking in peoples curtains. Before I went to sleep at around 11 pm he was in the parking lot looking around the cars and rooms. Morning time at 7 am same thing. AGAIN PLEASE DONT STAY HERE . He is up to no good thanks for hearing me out and PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

Perfect for our overnight stop as part of a big road trip. Room and amenities as described and great bed and pillows for a great sleep. Easy walk to several eating places but most shut about 8pm so be aware of arriving later in the evening. No concerns or complaints and would stay again

The room felt icky to be in. There were marks and stains all on the walls in the bathroom. Usually hotels will put a new roll of toilet paper before a new guest arrives but it was half used. Not a big deal. But there was long thick black hairs in the bed that were not mine. The refrigerator kept nothing cold but the freezer worked fine. The floor is spongy and has pieces missing. I didn’t feel comfortable in this room but was in a bind to find a room so close to the date I needed. The man up front said he upgraded us at no charge but I reserved two queens and he “upgraded” us to a full and a queen. He practically followed us to the room and then was lingering around the room. I felt like they weren’t done cleaning it but just sprayed cleaner to make it seem that way.

I didn’t like it at all the doors from restrooms were broken

Is security parking and good area.

Simple room. The rooms were very clean, with wood laminate flooring. For an older motel, it was maintained well and looks like the rooms were recently remodeled. We were only three blocks from the beach! I would definitely stay there again.

The room was somewhat outdated, but it was clean. Had the typical bed, dresser, tv and table. There was a fridge but it was not plugged in. And there was a coffee maker but no coffee. Also the toilet was leaking from somewhere. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean! At the time we were there it was quiet. It was friendly and in a good location.

The bed looked ok, and large. When we sat down, the loose metal frame killed it. When you looked at the sheets on it, you see there was other people's hair on it... we stripped the bed and laid our sheets on it, so that we could rest a bit. When we closed out eyes, you hear a train nearby.. and the walls have 0 insulation, so you hear the neighbors and people walking outside. We turned on the AC, and it stayed on for maybe 30 mins, then never came back on. We also noticed out skin was getting itchy, so that was our cue to leave. So in short, it was noisy, bad smell, hair on the sheets, furniture was stained and topped of with itchy skin after we left.

Staff of ONE… checked in at about 9pm. Checked out at about 9am same guy at front desk. He also questioned me about my ID and credit card “ is this really you..?” Rude.

No frills. When I say no frills not even an ice machine. The rooms are super clean and quiet. The staff was friendly checking us in. Easy walk to the beach. Not a bad place for a night between places.
