Super 8 by Wyndham Hagerstown/Halfway Area

Serve a decent breakfast. Not much for amenities otherwise, no Restaurant or gym. A good place just to sleep.

Parking lot was overgrown. Facility looked poorly maintained and unclean. Sketchy individuals in parking lot. No one in the reception for five minutes. Very dated looking area. I felt uncomfortable enough that I left, abandoning my prepayment, found a place to stay elsewhere. This place needs serious work.

Not sure where all the positive reviews come from. This is not a hotel; it’s just a sad roadside motel. The price for the property is outrageous - about $100. The chemical fragrance of the cleaning products was overpowering. There was a roach in the shower. There was dust encrusted in the AC vents. I moved rooms in the hopes of getting a room that was less overpowering - the second room was dingier, with blankets that were so worn it looked like they came from the 70s. The carpet felt damp. The AC rattled. The toilet wouldn’t flush. The cable had only a couple of channels - the majority were offline - and the WiFi has no password so it’s not exactly an amenity or safe. The woman at the front desk was lovely but that’s about it.

The room was super clean, really impressed! Staff was very nice and the breakfast, usually I don’t eat breakfast at the hotels, but this was so good. We ate it both days.

Second stay at this property. On my first stay at checkout, I notified the staff that the room I was in had a broken TV (tv tilted at about a 20 degree angle) which made it annoying to try to watch, and a faulty receptacle by the bed that would not hold the wall lamp plug so no light by the bed. Ironically, I had the same exact room on my second stay. Nothing in the room had been repaired in the 6 weeks between stays. Also the secondary entrance that has key card access wasn’t working, so you couldn’t easily go from your car back to your room, without going through the main entrance through the lobby. Mostly just an inconvenience that can be fixed. When I reported it, I was told that sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. LOL

The location! The front desk lady was super sweet and helpful! She was probably the best I have ever had the pleasure of checking and out with at any stay! Give that lady a generous raise! Room was out dated but not a big deal! Still not a deal breaker to stay again!

Very convenient for our needs. Friendly staff. Breakfast had an assortment of items - many microwaveable but good. Coffee 24/7. Quiet since it sits up on a hill away from highway noise - there is a truck parking lot nearby but not a problem from there either. Older bldg but clean. McDonalds within walking distance. Would stay here again.
