I have worked 15 years in the hospitality industry across the country and have never experienced staff this rude and dismissive. I have tried to send multiple emails to the company before leaving this public review, with no response. This is motel 6 value, for resort prices. Dirty rooms, overcharged, & disrespectful employees at the front desk. Bar and market staff were the only kind people working here.

Room was beautiful, restaurant and mini mart were so convenient and we loved the balcony. The area was just right in the middle of the walkable busy area, which was awesome and fun but I should've realized that it would be a little loud at night. But the view is to die for

The room as very nice, however it should be made clear during the reservation process to hat you may be in a room which shares a hallway with a restaurant kitchen as well as a bathroom for the restaurant guests. Our room was on the 4th floor, the smell of kitchen & food service is not always pleasant, having people standing outside your door to use the bathroom is also kind of invasive. For this “privilege” we were charged an extra $50 early check in at 1pm. Staff are very nice.

Rooms are small but it’s the trade off for the location which was perfect!

This is our second time staying here and it is lovely overall. We love the valet service and the "convient" store inside the lobby. It is located right in the action so you can really enjoy downtown la jolla from your balcony. We are seagull lovers so it's always a bonus to see so many in the distance. It is quite loud, the garbage men come daily and early, I am an early riser so it wasn't a problem. It is located by so many restaurants and shops + a few great gyms... One thing I will note is that we have stayed here twice now and both times the fire alarm went off for an extended period of time. This time it went off pretty early in the morning, not an ideal way to wake up on vacation.

Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the property. The hotel offers valet for a fee, and the entrance is on a very steep hill, making it difficult to manage luggage. The front desk staff saw we had three suitcases and that my husband has a visual impairment, yet we were sent upstairs to carry everything ourselves. We were also surprised to find there is no guest elevator, which was not disclosed online. At checkout, despite our departure time being confirmed, no one offered assistance with our luggage. I also recommend avoiding pressure washing the rooftop restaurant in the morning while guests are enjoying their balconies below. We were having coffee on our balcony, along with several other couples, when runoff from the rooftop power washing poured onto our balcony and soaked us. Overall, the property is stunning, but I believe hotels should provide better assistance for guests with disabilities and be more mindful of the guest experience. With improved customer service, this hotel would easily deserve five stars.

Now for the things we didn’t love. We ended up in a room on the outside of the hotel which got very loud most of the time. You could hear everyone walking by as well as cars and construction. The beds were not comfortable and the pillows weren’t great either which left us sore most mornings of the trip. The store did have a strong smell of sewage and cleaner mixed together.

The balcony view was beautiful especially at sunset, it was breathtaking. The staff was very kind and helpful especially when extending our stay and whilst utilizing their valet services. The room was clean and neat and smelled good. The amenities were also great!

The staff, the location, the room and the hotel all fantastic. But…. The 3rd floor is below the Birdseye and although the music and taking is not an issue the staff moving and dragging chairs and tables across the floor was almost intolerable. They start around 8am, possibly cleaning and set up for the lunch crowd but then all afternoon and evening till an hour after closing. So I’d say avoid 309,308,307. The other floors are better but then kitchen staff etc are up and down all day down the hall but better than the 4th. I’m not sure id stay on the 1st floor street level rooms, headlights, cars.. I think I’d return as the location is great but the roof noise is definitely an issue.

The room was incredibly clean, the staff was lovely, the atmosphere as a whole was great. I was only able to stay a night, but my husband and I will be going back every year!

The staff was friendly and helpful in providing recommendations and direction to nearby restaurants and providing easy check-in and out. The location is central to museums, shops and the beach. Nice design touches in the hotel with lovely views of the ocean.

My valet driver scratched my rims returning my car in front of the hotel. Other than that a nice experience.
