Amazing stay at Inn by the Sea. The reception staff were so friendly & helpful giving us great tips on where to eat and visit. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a new room with an ocean view. Thank you! This was a last minute detour to come to La Jolla and I’m so glad we find this place. The service was far better than the Marriott & Fairmont hotels we’d visited before and less than half the price!

Hotel is under renovation. Contructioncariund the hotel

Wonderful staff. Location is great and oversized rooms make me come back

The reception staff were outstanding, friendly, and one of them remembered my name. I will be coming back!

Excellent location, clean and well maintained.

The photos were a little misleading. The hotel is also under renovation however we paid a premium nightly rate. We were not notified with ample time about the renovations. The property was older than I expected, more like a motel feel than the quaint cottage type I was expecting for La Jolla. Overall the staff was great and it was a nice stay, just not exactly what I was expecting.

Our primary concern was that the area around our room was undergoing renovations, making it somewhat untidy. Additionally, the young woman who checked us in was openly chewing gum, which we found unprofessional and distracting.

The hotel is at a great location and walking distance to a lot of places. I really enjoyed the vending and coffee area, where you could find snacks or a hot drink at all hours. The staff was kind. The pool area was small but nice. The hotel was being rennovated during my stay and I heard some guests complaining of rennovation noise, however I was out and about during the day and I am not a late sleeper so this did not bother me. I believe there was limited hotel parking due to the construction, but the hotel was offering parking passes for a garage next door and I had no issues with parking. On a plus note, I stayed in a recently rennovated room and it was really nice! When construction is over - this hotel will be a real gem!

The staff who checked us in was super helpful and kind. The hotel is very nice. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We got adjoining/connecting rooms which was great for our family. The downsides were: not enough parking (we had to park on the street then set an alarm in the morning to get up and move the car so we did not get a ticket; no breakfast; the fitness facility is off-site (but it was great to have something- it’s a local gym); and the construction noise is significant. We were 2 floors below the floors that are being renovated and the trucks moving heavy things woke us up before 8am and for a full half hour from 8:00-8:30am the vibration/loud construction noise that felt like it was coming down through the walls woke us all up and made going back to sleep impossible. If you’re an early riser and don’t mind a few inconveniences, this hotel was great. I’m sure it will be fantastic when all the construction is done and their back parking area opens up again! It’s a good location with a coffee shop and pancake house just down the block. It felt super clean and safe.

We had numerous issues with the facility. Also the front desk charged both my husband and I for the room. Two days later I am still trying to get the payment credited back to my account.

Okay let's start with parking. They're remodeling. Inadequate parking. They charge $20 a night to use a little bit of parking they have. Is there breakfast, no. They put out coffee around 7:00. There's vending machines. Staff behaves pretty much like most hotels. The room is spotless. Inadequate places to sit in the room. Could have been the type of room we don't know.

The only inconvenience is the noise of the ongoing renovation work .

Walking distance to great shops and the ocean. Hotel is in the midst of renovations, but everything was in its place and we received an updated room. The pool is quaint with a nice lounge. It would be helpful to have Coffee closer to front desk. There is a fitness facility, but it is offsite. Parking is limited.
