Best Western Inn & Suites - Lake Charles

Kinda rough part of town.

One of the things I appreciated most was the convenient location. The property was close to just about every place I needed to go, which made getting around so easy and saved us a lot of time. It was especially nice not having to spend a lot of time driving back and forth. I was disappointed with the condition of the swimming pool. The water appeared slightly green, and the bottom of the pool felt slippery, which seemed like it could have been algae. Each time someone took a step, more of it appeared to rise from the bottom and make the water look even greener. We informed the staff, and they explained that the pool had been cleaned a couple of days earlier and that they would address the issue. Unfortunately, the pool was still green the following day, so we did not feel comfortable using it. I was especially disappointed because I was traveling with two teenagers who were unable to enjoy the pool during our stay. I hope the hotel takes steps to ensure the pool is properly cleaned and maintained for future guests.

Access to major highway. Security was poor. The side door we used was blocked open by a door mat every time we arrived to or left the building. I reported it to the front desk and the man said he would “look into it.”

First, it’s in a kind of sketchy location. MLK Blvd and just a street of typical busy street business after business; fast food, tire shops, etc. Unfriendly staff, she put me in a room on the first floor, I requested a 2nd floor room and she refused to change it. Lazy, pure and simple. The room had filthy carpets, grime on the bathroom door, and a very odd smell throughout. I lasted 20 minutes before I called Hotels.com, cancelled, and bailed. It was disgusting.

Exceptional

Not a bad place for the price. We stayed one night and someone randomly pulled the fire alarm which caused lots of guest to get up at 6am thinking it was a fire but it wasn’t.

Seems to be a little run down and needs some refurbishment. Staff was excellent and helpful at all times

Passable

Pool was green with algae. Broken chairs, tables poolside.

The hotel had amenities, but all of them were hanging on by a thread. The ac was loud and seemed just barely functional, the lights flickered when turned on, the pool was green, and so on.

Great stay. Had to extend my stay and they worked with me easily and quickly.

Front desk person was great. Bed was comfy. The place was not very clean, especially in the common areas like hallways. The carpet needed to be replaced years ago. The GYM EQUIPMENT WAS MOSTLY NONFUNCTIONAL. The neighborhood was not safe after dark, many businesses have bars on doors and windows. I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight. Several guests and I spoke, we all felt dupped by the reviews, like they weren't real unbiased guest. Here is a comparison. If you never ate anything but bread & water, and then someone gives you a half a hotdog, you think that you are king.
