The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue

Great staff

We’ve traveled to the Royal Sonesta in Kauai a couple years back and we fell in love, not only with the island but with the resort, the staff, the food, everything. The staff is so kind and never fail to impress. Our room was clean and they were consistent with the upkeep which I’m usually very particular about. Everything is a bit pricy but that was to be expected in Hawaii. The shops and restaurants are all within walking distance, we rented a car and although we were on the farther end of the resort we always managed to get a spot right by our tower. We appreciate the hospitality and the warm welcome, we will always come back<3

The hotel was great and had a beautiful view of the Kauai mountains and oceanscape, every view is photo worthy.

It was a good resort but expensive. The rooms were clean and breakfast was expensive but good

Fantastic stay at the Royal Sonesta! Comfortable bed, beautiful property, and right on the beach as well. We would definitely stay here again.

This is one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve ever stayed at. The ocean view was spectacular, the restaurants were lovely, the pool was very unique and special, and the location was excellent. What more could I say? I loved it and hope to return! Thank you!

When we arrived, the noise level of cutting concrete made it difficult to talk to the concierge whose desk was outside the entrance doors. Aside from that, the hotel is beautiful and we had a lovely stay.

This was a great stay and an amazing property!

This was a wonderful property. Clean and enjoyable. Great location with beautiful beach access. It felt as though we had a private beach. My only issue was that I booked an ocean-view room and we couldn't see the ocean unless we went out on the patio. Overall, we had a nice stay. Next time, I would prefer to actually see the ocean from my room as I have at other locations.

Everything was so very beautiful! The rooms are immaculate. The stuff so very friendly! The whole atmosphere was perfect! We definitely would recommend and we will be back!

They didn't honor the Expedia VIP status, even though the property is listed as a Expedia VIP property and one of the main reasons we booked this resort. We were not given an upgrade, and the lady at the counter said they didn't really honor the Expedia VIP when I asked about it.

We stayed seven nights, we loved it!!!

• Charged for parking after we were told it was free and only costs money if valet parks car. • No rooms service from 12-5. • TV continually shut off after 5-10 minutes of being on. • Wifi disabled from devices in the morning before check out time. • Events board posted outside said there was Ukulele lessons in the mornings, but there was none. Asked employee and they said board hadn't been updated. Board was never updated for the 4 days we were there. • Room wasn't ready until after the 4PM check out time. • Overpriced and hidden fees everywhere. • Website reports this is a 5 star hotel, it is not.

Excellent luxury accommodation!

The only great thing about this place are the pools. If you are looking for a resort that has everything you need and you don't want to leave this may be your place. We had to stay here when we extended our stay due to hurricane Lala. Our room was sandy and smelled like vomit and urine the floor was extremely dirty and we even noticed a condom wrapper underneath /behind the nightstand. We were in Poipu killing time before check in when i got a phone call that our room was ready early. We left quickly to check in because we have two toddler boys. When we arrived they told us to enjoy the pool because the system was down and they could not create our room key. The bell hop had attitude with us when I tried to get my family's swim suits out of our checked in luggage. The stay just felt gross and uncomfortable the entire time. We could not wait to get on our plane back home.

Overall a nice hotel limited dinning options and limited parking.

From checkin the whole atmosphere was amazing. Staff super friendly. From the valet to the front desk. The room far surpassed our expectations with views from the balcony and welcoming vibes. Super clean and very easy to locate. We hope to be back very soon

Great pool and grounds area. Easy access to the beach. Beautiful scenery. Nearby restaurants plus several in the hotel itself. We got picked for an area tour upstairs at the valet desk. Very convenient to the airport too. It was the best part of our vacation.

Really impressed with the resort like feel. Great experience overall.
