The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue

We went here on a family vacation and it was amazing. The beach is great! Smaller waves and excellent sand, with warm water! The pool was also great with warm water and the hot tubs actually worked! Not something you always see in tropical climates. Super close to the airport with a free shuttle, and no airplane noise at all. Walkable to many restaurants and shops. Highly recommended!

The hotel was average at best, but the prices were for a five star

Unfortunately, the service and attention to detail didn't match the price. Several of the in-room amenities were incomplete or empty, including the sewing kit and other convenience items, which made the room feel overlooked. The biggest disappointment was the pool service. The security around the pool came across as overly aggressive at times, which took away from what should have been a relaxing experience. For a resort at this price point, I expected more attentive and welcoming customer service. Overall, the hotel itself is attractive, but the quality of the amenities and customer service fell short of expectations. For what you pay, I expected a more polished experience with better attention to detail and a higher level of hospitality.

It was perfectly located, friendly staff, beautiful pool!

Beach was close and water was nice but for the many loose sediments rolling on the ocean floor, such as lava rocks, to which I gashed my foot stepping on one. Staff who helped with gash were helpful and pleasant. Many options to eat at the resort. From sit down to grab and go (breakfast). The servers poolside were a hit or miss. On day 1 the server was SO pleasant and extremely helpful, especially getting ice for my sprained ankle (yes, that happened too). She also was quick on delivery of food and drinks, and frequently asked if we needed anything. On day 2, I had to flag down the server for the section, albeit she helped the guests in the chairs adjacent but not once did she stop to ask if we wanted anything. After flagging down, the drinks and requested bag of ice for my ankle never arrived and I had to send my husband to track her down. View from the room was very nice, especially the balcony. It was relaxing to sit there and watch the pool action or listen to the waves crash. They offer daily activities, such as plumeria rosette making, ukulele lessons, bingo, etc. It was a nice break in the day to do the activities.

Wonderful stay! Beautifully kept property and wonderful views. Very nice staff as well.

It was nice resort, with some restaurants near by. I would rent a car to go see more of the island next time. Don't rely on uber/lyft to get you back from your excursions at night. The property itself was great.

Love this place. Our room was on floor. Easy access to the beach and pool. Only thing I had problem was that the floor on the rest room has lickage. Every time we flashed or used the sink, after few minutes you will see water on the floor. They need to fix that. Other than that loved everything. If we go next we will stay there again.

The property was immaculate and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It is paradise!

We stayed 7 nights at The Royal Sonesta in the one bedroom ocean view suite. It was incredible! The room was huge and had such great views of the beach. The desk staff was friendly and the service staff kept the rooms very clean. I highly recommend the Royal Sonesta!

We enjoyed our visit. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We visited both of the restaurants. Great food!

Very beautiful and great service

So nice to have restaurants on property and walking distance away. Pool is great! Plenty big even when the property is full. Beach is great w easy access. The sushi bar is bomb! And the morning grab and go is very convenient w hot and cold breakfast items. Tye property is very well maintained and the rooms r spacious. Great location and close to the airport.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, so I couldn’t answer anything other than the staffing question. So, staff was everything as far as I am concerned.

Excellent food at their restaurant. I wish we could control the AC. It was a little hot at night at times.

The rooms were nice, standard size. The pullout couches weren’t very comfortable. It took awhile to have necessities delivered to the room, but we understood. Overall, a nice hotel and pool. I wish they had more food options.
